Magic Wins the 1996 Software Developers Challenge (UK)

Victory Marks Second Consecutive Win

LONDON, UK, February 15, 1996 - Magic Software Enterprises (NASDAQ: MGICF)
has announced that development teams using Magic have won first and second
place at the 1996 Software Developers Challenge. The Developer Services
Team of Magic Solution Partner Safe Computing took first place and last
year's winner, Bruce Lomasky, in the Magic Software Enterprises (UK) Ltd.
team, came in a very close second. This is Magic's second consecutive win
at this event.

The Challenge is a regular feature of the annual two-day Software
Developers Forum held in London. This year competing two-man development
teams were asked to produce a fully functional purchase and supply
application for the charity Save the Children.

Commenting on the quality of the applications, David Biggins, Chairman of
the judging panel, said, "I have to say that the standard of this year's
entrants was very high. Both Developer Services, who won using Magic, and
MSE who came second, substantially completed the major part of the
product. This is a task which with conventional development tools and
methods would normally be estimated at over two weeks. This was without a
doubt a most impressive performance and suggests that commercial
developers could probably expect a very high level of productivity from
Magic."

Biggins is Technical Director at RHEA International which provides
technical advise to Save the Children. RHEA, in conjunction with Save the
Children, produced the specification used in the Challenge.

John Milway, General Manager of Magic Software Enterprises (UK) Ltd.
comments, "This competition provides one of the few objective measures of
development tools, gauging both productivity and application quality.
Magic's consistent performance is proof of its advantages in terms of
speed and functionality over other tools."

Milway adds, "The fact that we saw a different team winning this year
emphasizes that it is Magic 6 which gives developers the edge. It isn't
just a case of a few super developers who would win with whatever toolset
they used."

This victory closely follows Magic 6 taking a clean sweep of the top five
places at the Droege Developers Competition held in the USA. In these
competitions Magic 6 has beaten competitors using Borland's Delphi,
Unique, Powersoft's PowerBuilder, Gupta's SQL Windows, Progress, Oracle,
Microsoft's FoxPro, IBM's Visual Age, Computer Associates' Clipper and
OpenRoad, DataEase, 4th Dimension, C++, Smalltalk and other tools.

Paul Hampson, General Manager of Developer Services and leader of the
winning team said after his victory, "Magic totally eliminates
time-consuming coding which allowed us to concentrate on high-level
problem solving, application functionality and ensuring a close fit
between the specification and the end solution. In addition, Magic is
ideal for team development such as in the Challenge because of its table
driven paradigm. This enables us to dynamically share and re-use design
definitions."

Hampson is a specialist in development tools having spent over 19 years in
the industry and is currently Chairman of the UK Magic User Group. He has
worked for Safe Computing since 1978. During that time he has worked in
all fields including programming, system design, consultancy, sales and
management. The other team member Nigel Edwards is Resource Manager,
scheduling and overseeing all major projects within the group. He has
worked in the IT industry for over ten years.

Safe Computing Ltd. is based in Leicester and has been working with the
Magic for many years. It has established a division, Developer Services,
dedicated to providing products and services to Magic developers.
Developer Services is the only organization in the UK which in addition to
marketing Magic licenses also develops and markets a range of 'add-on'
products. These include books, magazines, debuggers, CASE (computer aided
software engineering) tools, utilities and full-blown applications in
source code form.

Bruce Lomasky, the previous winner, and his team mate Giora Salita won
second place for MSE. Bruce is a world famous figure among RAD
professionals while Giora, creator of Magic University, the training and
education division of MSE, is studying for an MBA at Warwick University.
