Interleaf's Cyberleaf Awarded BYTE Magazine Editors' Choice Award

Leading Web Publishing Product Recognized for Technological Innovation

Waltham, Mass. - February 20, 1996 - Interleaf, Inc. (NASDAQ:LEAF) today
announced that BYTE Magazine has awarded its Cyberleaf Web publishing and
maintenance product a 1995 Editors' Choice Award of Distinction. The
awards were announced in the February 1996 issue of BYTE. Cyberleaf was
the only Web publishing product to win an award and was mentioned among
some very popular new products from industry leaders such as Apple
Computer, Inc., AT&T, Digital Equipment Corp., Hewlett-Packard and
Microsoft Corp.

According to BYTE: "All the top hardware and software products that earned
a place as an Editors' Choice finalist blend technological innovation and
the ability to solve nagging problems. These aren't technologies in search
of a job to perform, nor do they appear here because they're the glitziest
and most aggressively promoted products of the year. BYTE editors or
contributors have used and, in many cases, continue to use each of these
award-winners."

In December 1995, BYTE reviewed four of the top Web publishing products and
gave Cyberleaf a ringing endorsement as "the best of the four...hands
down". The reviewers noted: "With Cyberleaf you're not just getting a
conversion program; you're getting a complete Web development and
maintenance environment. When your Web page needs are measured in
megabytes and hundreds of links, Cyberleaf is the program to choose."

Interleaf's Cyberleaf was first released in February 1995 and has
experienced strong market acceptance. A complete Web publishing and
maintenance environment, Cyberleaf converts text and graphics from a
variety of popular formats to HTML and GIF, then organizes them into
elaborate webs of information. Cyberleaf graphical interface is easy to
use and requires no knowledge of HTML. While all other products stop at
HTML conversion, Cyberleaf helps users maintain Web sites by incremental
publishing techniques and intelligent hyperlinks that are automatically
re-applied when source documents change or new ones are added.
