JavaSoft to Host JavaOne: Sun's First Worldwide Java Developer Conference

Company today announced JavaOne, the first worldwide Java Developer
Conference, officially sponsored by Sun Microsystems, Inc.'s JavaSoft, to
be held May 29-31 at San Francisco's Moscone Center. For information on

Among the many speakers, James Gosling, who architected the original Java
programming environment, will deliver insight into Java technology

opportunities and direction for JavaSoft. JavaOne will feature three main
session tracks: Technology, Business and Design. The Conference will also
offer hands-on demonstration areas, tutorials, opportunities to interact
with development peers and a technology fair featuring the latest and most
innovative uses of Java-based technologies by third party developers.

The Conference will incorporate a number of online events and activities in
addition to the on-site program. ISVs demonstrating in the technical
pavilion will also participate in an on-line demonstration area. Portions
of the conference proceedings will be accessible worldwide through
web-based broadcasting technology. Java Cup International, the
Sun-sponsored Java applet developer's contest announced on December 4,
1995, will be announced and showcased at the Conference. "The applets
being developed for this competition will validate the robust and
multi-functional nature of the Java programming environment," said Barbara
Gordon, Vice President, Academic & Research Computing for Sun Microsystems
Computer Company. "The goal of this contest is to develop many innovative
and creative Java applets and make them publicly available on the
