InstallShield Corp. Releases DemoShield4 For Windows

Powerful Toolkit For Creating Windows-Based Demos Now Offers ScreenCam
Integration, Static Screen Capture, Windows 95 Support And More

SCHAUMBURG, IL (February, 1996) -- InstallShield Corporation, creator of
the worldwide standard InstallShield installation toolkit, has just
released DemoShield4 For Windows, the latest version of its visual
demonstration toolkit for creating interactive Windows-based software
demos and product tutorials.

Designed for developers and marketers promoting Windows applications,
DemoShield4 makes it possible to create high-impact demonstrations with
interactive text and graphics simply by clicking and dragging objects into
scenes and then linking individual scenes together. DemoShield4 adds new
video and static screen capture capabilities, extra on-line design
guidance, faster display and new features that take advantage of Windows
95 interface conventions. Enhancements include:

* Free Lotus ScreenCam2--The popular video screen capture utility is now
integrated with DemoShield, making it easy to incorporate existing or new
ScreenCam files in demos and tutorials for animated playback.

* Built-in screen capture capability--This enables a user to quickly create
a static image of any application screen, then pause on that image as long
as needed during a presentation.

* Simulated cursor movement--Used in conjunction with the new screen
capture utility, this feature allows the user to coordinate cursor
movements with the display of captured images for more realistic
simulations of an application.

* Windowed demo mode--This lets the user create a demo that plays in a
window on the viewer's screen regardless of the end user's resolution
setup.

* Demo Wizard and other on-line guidance--Demo Wizard takes the user
through three Q&A screens that quickly establish demo type (single or
multiple scenes, etc.), scene organization (length, transition, etc.) and
demo style (full-screen or windowed). New context-sensitive help and
on-line tips for creating better demos are also included.

* Timeline Editor--This new tool enables users to view and edit the Start,
Hold, End and Exit times for all the objects in a scene.

* Performance improvements--Visual display is twice as fast as previous
versions, producing more lifelike demos. The new version also requires
less memory to run.

DemoShield4 also includes long filename support and other features for
Windows 95 and Windows NT users.

The Most Versatile Product Of Its Kind

Introduced in 1991, DemoShield is the market's most comprehensive software
for creating interactive Windows-based demos and tutorials. Its powerful,
built-in tools enable users to create, capture, control and sequence
scenes quickly and easily without any programming or scripting.

DemoShield4 offers more demoing methods than any other program on the
market, including live application capability. This option gives viewers
the ability to interact with a live application run entirely within the
demo. Other options include animated playback using .AVI or ScreenCAM
files; static screen capture; and the ability to layer text, graphics and
points over application screen shots. Developers can use one or a
combination of all strategies, depending on their past experience and
resources.

DemoShield4 also includes a variety of exclusive features that greatly
simplify the design process, such as the ability to apply motion effects
to several objects simultaneously. It makes it easy to manage Scenes,
Sub-scenes and objects like bitmaps, text and basic graphic building
blocks. It supports standard file formats (BMP and WMF for graphics, WAV
for sound, TXT and RTF for text and .AVI and .SCM for video) and offers
complete control over the "look" of the demo with a full toolset and a
comprehensive point-and-click interface.

When the design is complete, the DemoShield SetupWizard creates a complete
Windows installation in seven easy steps so the demo or tutorial will play
on any PC and take advantage of the performance improvements gained by
running the demo from the hard drive. UnInstallShield is integrated with
every demo installation, making it easy for demo viewers to remove demos
from their hard drive.

Pricing, Support

DemoShield4 for Windows has an MSRP of $495 and is available in the U.S. at
a special introductory price of $195 until Dec. 31. Previous users can
upgrade for $195. The product comes with a "Getting Started" guide, a
comprehensive user's manual, ready- to-edit sample demos and an unlimited
royalty-free license for developing any number of demos for any number of
applications on a single CPU. It also includes unlimited technical support
for 90 days and a 60-day money-back guarantee. There are no royalties or
additional fees for distributing demos.
