PGA Selects IBM to Develop, Manage Internet Offerings, Services

JANUARY 29, 1996 -- ORLANDO, FL. -- The PGA of America and IBM today
announced that IBM will help the PGA develop Internet-related solutions
for linking the PGA's 23,000 member professionals, the golf industry and
golfers. The technology also will serve as a platform for merchandising
and electronic commerce and for attracting golfing enthusiasts to PGA
facilities. Golfers, for example, will be able to electronically book golf
course reservations, schedule tee times and order equipment.

"This extension of our relationship with IBM is designed to network PGA
members as a first step in delivering new services to golfers and the golf
industry," said PGA Chief Executive Officer Jim L. Awtrey. "Through the
Internet, we believe we can market all facets of the golf experience from
playing to instruction to merchandise with the goal of increased traffic
for PGA members and their facilities."

IBM has been the official scoring and information technology company of the
PGA since 1990 and, in the last 12 months through the IBM Global Network,
has developed interactive Internet sites for the PGA Championship and
Ryder Cup as well as hosting PGA Online, an Internet-delivered service for
PGA members and the golf industry. This is another example of IBM's
network-centric computing strategy -- a blueprint for enabling people to
receive, use and share applications and services across worldwide voice
and data networks, including the Internet.

"IBM technical resources and the PGA's content and marketing expertise make
up a powerful combination," said Rick Selvage, general manager, media and
entertainment, IBM telecommunications and media industry. "The real value
of technology is providing business services that save time and money for
the PGA's members and ultimately delivering golfing enthusiasts 24-hour
access to the expertise of PGA members."

IBM's telecommunications and media industry solutions unit offers a wide
range of solutions for entertainment, sports, broadcasting, publishing,
media, cable TV, wireless and telecommunications companies. The IBM Global
Network has one of the world's largest integrated data, voice and video
networks, and provides Internet access to more than 550 locations in more
than 40 countries.

"Technology is rapidly changing the business environment in which PGA
members operate," said Awtrey. "We're pleased to have IBM, a
world-renowned leader in technology, working with us to determine how to
best support our members, help them operate their businesses and deliver
services to the public."

More information about plans for the PGA's Internet-related services may be
obtained at the IBM booth 4751 at the 1996 PGA Merchandise Show, and in
the PGA Member Business Center, Valencia Room on the fourth floor of the
Orange County Convention Center. PGA Online can be access through the
Internet at www.pgaonline.com.
