HP Introduces Its Lowest-Priced Pentium-Based PC

New Vectra PC Maintains Commitment to Value, Performance and Reliability
for the Entry-level User

PALO ALTO, CALIFORNIA. FEBRUARY 20, 1996 -- Hewlett-Packard Company today
announced its new HP Vectra VE Series 2 PC, which expands on the company's
commitment to deliver the best- performing, most reliable PC at the
industry's lowest prices.

The Vectra VE Series 2 PC's performance and ease-of-use features are firsts
for computers in its class, while its price remains one of the lowest
available for Pentium -based systems.

"The new HP Vectra VE Series 2 PC provides customers with a computer that
performs at above industry-standard levels for below industry- standard
prices," said Didier Cabaret, corporate PC marketing manager at HP's
Grenoble PC Division. "HP's ability to provide a rich set of features,
Pentium performance and world-renowned quality, and to still lead the
industry in pricing is a winning proposition for customers everywhere."

Among the features that are new to the HP Vectra VE Series 2 PC is an
Extended Data Out (EDO) DRAM that provides Pentium-level memory
performance using "hyper-page mode." Memory-performance scalability is
further enhanced by synchronous or asynchronous L2 cache as an added
feature.

The Vectra VE Series 2 PC provides several new ease-of-use features, such
as a one-touch startup of the PC from the space bar of the Windows 95
keyboard. The PC can also be turned off using Windows 95 shutdown, which
is integrated into the HP Vectra Series 2 BIOS. Part of HP's Vectra
Ergonomic Power Solution, these features are possible because HP's
Advanced Power Management is built onto the motherboard by HP -- features
not available on competitors' comparable PCs.

HP's Desktop Management Interface (DMI) 250 also is available on the Vectra
VE Series 2 PC, allowing up to 250 features to be managed across the
network. This lets network MIS managers easily update system software,
provide comprehensive technical support, accurately track assets and
maintain a high level of security. This network manageability is available
on all HP Vectra PCs.

A complete price and feature table for the new HP Vectra Series 2 PC is
provided below.

processor, graphics and disk performance.
