Change Reflects Expanded Product List, Online Presence, Global Market

DANBURY, Conn. -- February 1, 1996 -- Multimedia innovator Grolier
Electronic Publishing, Inc. today announced that it is changing its name
to Grolier Interactive Inc. to reflect the company's increased global
presence through its merging with European sister company, Matra Hachette
Multimedia. The award-winning company's new identity is effective
immediately.

David Arganbright, president of Grolier Interactive says, "With this name
change, Grolier formally acknowledges its expansion from solely publishing
reference material to publishing high-quality game and entertainment
titles on CD-ROM such as Greg Norman Ultimate Challenge Golf and How Would
You Survive?" Noting the company's critically acclaimed flagship product,
The Grolier Multimedia Encyclopedia, Arganbright also says, "Grolier has
been a publisher of CD-ROM reference products for over ten years and will
continue to develop innovative and comprehensive reference titles across a
broad spectrum of topics."

The name change and corresponding new logo also updates the company's image
to reflect Grolier Interactive's offerings online as well as on CD-ROM.
Available online since 1982 and now through such services as CompuServe
and America Online, The Grolier Multimedia Encyclopedia offers a gateway
online with more than 12,000 direct links between Grolier and CompuServe.
Additional links to the Internet will soon be added this year to give even
more freedom of intellectual movement to users.

Grolier Interactive now publishes and markets entertainment titles.
