Galacticomm, Inc. Ships Internet Connectivity Option V2.0 for Worldgroup

Ft. Lauderdale, FL - January 22, 1996 - Galacticomm, Inc. began shipping
its Worldgroup Internet Connectivity Option version 2.0 (ICO V2.0).
Organizations using ICO V2.0 with Galacticomm's Worldgroup online
interactive software can create a community-based online service that has
everything they need to give people access to the Internet and the World
Wide Web; run a full-featured Web site; provide in-house and Internet
e-mail and newsgroup messaging; and offer secure remote client/server
applications to their field staff, customers, vendors and the world at
large.

"If you want one package that can handle all your Internet needs, this is
it," says Galacticomm President and CEO Scott Brinker. "It gives you a Web
site, full Internet e-mail and newsgroups, SLIP/CSLIP/PPP access out to
the Web for your users and a complete client/server environment that works
as smoothly over the Internet as it does your LAN and dial-up modems. It's
simple and delivers great price/performance value." Knoxville
News-Sentinel Manager of Online Publishing Jack Lail says, "ICO V2.0 adds
another dimension to what we can offer our online community. Users ask us
to provide Internet services so that they can access Usenet news and
information on other sites and e-mail worldwide. With ICO V2.0 our users
can do almost anything they could do with a commercial online service.
They can even 'surf' the Web and visit home pages. We're extremely happy
with ICO V2.0."

Internet Access Server

ICO V2.0 includes pass-through support for SLIP/CSLIP/PPP that lets an
organization offer seamless Internet access to its Worldgroup users. Once
users have established a connection to the organization's Worldgroup
server, they can launch any Winsock application (such as Netscape
Navigator, telnet, ftp, Internet Relay Chat, Archie, or Gopher) to
interactively browse the Internet. To gain Internet access, users can hook
up to the Worldgroup server with high-speed modems, ISDN, LAN, or serial
connections.

Three types of SLIP/CSLIP/PPP access models are available. A dedicated
pass-through account assigns fixed Internet addresses to particular
User-IDs and allows users to run services of their own on the Internet.
Dynamic pass-through accounts give users a temporary IP address which
supports the widest variety of Internet applications possible. Proxy
accounts provide users a seamless link to the Internet through the
Worldgroup client program without the overhead of extra IP addresses.

Web Site

With ICO's Internet server abilities, an organization can launch a fully
HTML 3.0-compatible Web server on the same machine as its other Internet
services. In addition an organization can give each user a "home page"
under this Web server. This new ICO release offers advanced Web features
such as clickable imagemaps and forms capabilities. The server logs all
"hits" to the Web page according to NCSA WWW server conventions. This
enables organizations to track command requests, pages retrieved and which
browsers visitors are using (e.g., Netscape Navigator). The server also
supports VRML (Virtual Reality Modeling Language) documents and Java
applets. A free Web server developer's kit for creating Web server
functions is available.

Internet Messaging

SMTP and NNTP provide real-time e-mail and newsgroup messaging over the
Internet. E-mail file attachments are automatically MIME encoded and
decoded for one-step file transfers. POP3 (Post Office Protocol version 3)
brings cross-platform access to Worldgroup. Users on other platforms, such
as UNIX and Macintosh, receive mail through standard Internet-based e-mail
programs (e.g., Eudora) and newsreaders (e.g., Newswatcher). This protocol
also enables mail pick-ups from the Windows 95 Universal Mailbox with the
Microsoft Windows 95 Plus Pack. This open-messaging architecture lets
virtually anyone interact with the server.

Support for over 200 simultaneous Internet users on a single PC

A new TCP/IP stack brings support for over 200 simultaneous Internet users
on a single PC.

Other Internet Applications

Other Internet applications supported include telnet, rlogin, ftp and
finger. The client form of these applications, as well as Internet Relay
Chat (IRC), enables dial-up, ISDN and LAN users to access Internet
services from the Worldgroup Internet Server. The server form enables
worldwide Internet users to access the Worldgroup online system.

Pricing

ICO V2.0 is available for $995 list price ($795 estimated street price).
Source code is available for $495 list price. Existing Worldgroup Internet
Server and ICO V1.0 customers can receive a free update to ICO V2.0.
