Galacticomm, Inc.'s Plug-in for Netscape Unveiled With Worldgroup v2.0;
Brings Dozens of Client/Server Applications to the Web

San Jose, CA - February 20, 1996 - Galacticomm, Inc. unveiled today
Worldgroup version 2.0, its next generation of online software designed to
bridge the gap between the World Wide Web and online systems/workgroups.
Worldgroup v2.0 includes a freely distributable plug-in for Netscape
Navigator 2.0 that enables a user to launch a suite of off-the-shelf
multimedia client/server applications directly from a company's Web site.
The new product is being demonstrated today and tomorrow at Web World,
Internet World and Email Expo in San Jose, CA. The Worldgroup Plug-in can
be downloaded and demonstrated from the company's Web site at
http://www.gcomm.com.

Web-enabled Worldgroup applications include: catalog shopping with
real-time encrypted credit card verification; multimedia databases; video
teleconferencing; real-time action chat; group schedulers; document
management tools; fax servers; Rich-Text Format e-mail and forums with
support for embedded URLs; classified ads; threaded group discussion
areas; multiplayer virtual reality games; opinion polls with graphical
display of results; and newsfeeds. Worldgroup v2.0 is expected to be
released in April 1996. Beta software can be purchased from Galacticomm's
Ambassador Dealers and direct from Galacticomm, with prices starting at
$476. Customers will receive a free upgrade when the product is released.

"Worldgroup v2.0 builds upon our ten years of experience in providing
network-centric communications software," says Galacticomm President and
CEO Scott Brinker. "This is time-proven, robust technology that has now
converged with the Web to produce a spectacular universe of client/server
applications over the Intranet and the Internet at large."

When users browsing the Web click on a hypertext link to a Worldgroup
application, the plug-in initiates a direct (persistent) connection to a
Worldgroup server. The connection is transparently made through the same
TCP/IP link that the user is using for Web access. If the user already has
an account on that Worldgroup system, he or she will be seamlessly logged
on; if not, the user will be asked to create an account. Depending on how
the system is configured, the user will either be presented with a
graphical menu of all services or taken directly to a specific
application.

KEY FEATURES AND BENEFITS FOR CUSTOMERS

All applications already written for the Worldgroup platform are now
available via the Web without modification - the interface to the Web is
handled through the Worldgroup Plug-in software. Galacticomm has over 100
Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) offering off-the- shelf applications.

Worldgroup applications are easily added to a Web site by inserting a few
EMBED commands in the Web page's HTML file. This eliminates the need for
complex Java programming or lengthy HTML authoring, and significantly
speeds up Web development.

Customers and ISVs can easily create their own Web-enabled Worldgroup
applications using Visual Basic. Existing applications can be customized
to provide a unique multimedia interface. Source code is available for
most Worldgroup applications.

Users can make efficient use of their time by performing multiple tasks at
once - like downloading files while holding a video teleconference - and
they can continue to browse the Web while simultaneously logged on to a
Worldgroup system.

Worldgroup maintains a dedicated (persistent) connection between the
plug-in and the server, which means users will experience greater
real-time interactivity and spontaneous delivery of data. Any new
applications - or updates to existing applications already on the users'
PCs - will be transferred automatically in the background for more
efficient use of the users' time.

The plug-in is fully functional, even without a connection to the server,
enabling users to work offline using Worldgroup applications local to
their PC.

Java applets, VRML worlds or other HTML documents can be included on the
same Web site as Worldgroup applications.

URLs can be embedded in e-mail and forum messages and even in Worldgroup's
graphical (hypermedia) menus. The URLs can take the user to any site on
the Web or directly into another Worldgroup system on a TCP/IP network.

Worldgroup can be used with any Web server - or customers can use
Worldgroup's built-in HTTP 1.0-compliant Web server software.

The Worldgroup Plug-in for Microsoft's Internet Explorer is under
development.

Organizations can display and capture in-depth demographic and usage
statistics, graphs and account details for comprehensive analysis. They
can also build a detailed mailing list of people accessing the Web site.

Customers can define software security keys for users or classes of users
to control access to certain areas on their system, set time limits and
charge for online services.

The Worldgroup Plug-in implements a MIME (Multipurpose Internet Mail
Extension) type for Worldgroup applications in Web documents. Like other
browser plug-ins, the Worldgroup Plug-in must first be installed by the
end-user; this is accomplished using an easy auto-install program. The
plug-in includes the Worldgroup Manager, software that brings client-side
intelligence to a user's PC.

OTHER WORLDGROUP FEATURES AND OPTIONS

Users can access Worldgroup applications from a browser via hot links or by
establishing a connection to the Worldgroup server independently of the
Web - via modem, TCP/IP, ISDN, X.25 or Novell IPX/SPX.

Organizations can offer users full access to the Internet with pass-through
SLIP/CSLIP/PPP support.

A full range of Internet applications are supported including: telnet, ftp,
rlogin, finger, Internet Relay Chat (IRC), Internet e-mail and USENET
newsgroups.
