Farallon To Hold Successful CyberCamp Internet Awareness Program at Los
Angeles School

ALAMEDA, Calif., February 5, 1996-Farallon Computing, Inc., today announced
that it is holding its second CyberCamp, a nationwide Internet awareness
program for students, parents and teachers, at Bethune Middle School in
Los Angeles on February 10. CyberCamp is targeted at inner-city schools
where students are less likely to be exposed to high technology in the
classroom or home environment. The goal of the program is to help stir
community excitement for Internet education and demonstrate the value of
Internet resources in the classroom.

The kick-off of Farallon's CyberCamp took place last October at
Hawthorne-Whitton Elementary School in Oakland, California. "CyberCamp was
a very successful event for us, because it addressed not only the
educational needs of our students, but those of their parents and teachers
as well," said Rebecca Cohn-Vargas, principal at Hawthorne-Whitton
Elementary School. "Through the program, we've been able to get a head
start on incorporating the Internet into our curriculum."

Farallon will sponsor three additional CyberCamp events in 1996 in San
Francisco, Detroit, and Washington, D.C. Further, Farallon will co-sponsor
the events in California with Pacific Bell, a leading proponent of
Internet access for schools and libraries and the creator of Education
First, a program that offers free high-speed ISDN lines and one year of
free service to schools, community colleges and libraries in California.
Pacific Bell's goal is to provide 9,000 of these institutions with a
digital on-ramp to the information superhighway by the year 2000. In the
first 13 months of the program 700 schools and libraries have been brought
online, with a total of 1,000 institutions expected to be on-line by the
end of the 1996 school year. "The Education First program is helping
schools that might otherwise not have access to this technology," said
Rick Normington, Pacific Bell's area vice president, education.

Students and teachers will access the Internet during CyberCamp via
Farallon's Netopia Internet Router, which the company will donate to the
school to enable them to access the Internet on an ongoing basis.

"Unlike many other technology companies that only offer product donations,
Farallon and Pacific Bell are taking Internet awareness a step further by
providing students and teachers with the training necessary to make
Internet access useful," stated Alan Lefkof, president and CEO of
Farallon.

CyberCamp Agenda

Farallon's CyberCamp will go beyond the hype and will teach participants
the importance and uses of the Internet. Activities will include hands-on
computer training, interactive demonstrations on Internet uses, and games
aimed at teaching children Internet search skills. Students, parents, and
teachers will learn how the Internet can be used to conduct research,
learn about their heritage, meet people from different cultures, and
create their own web page. Further, sessions have been created
specifically for teachers to learn how to create and deliver Internet
curriculum for the classroom.

Besides demonstrating the value of the Internet, CyberCamp will offer
adults an opportunity to discuss some important issues. During one
session, parents and teachers will learn about Internet hazards and hear
recommendations for taking discretionary measures to insure a child is
getting a positive and educational experience each time they use Internet
resources.
