eVAULT Offers Remote Backup Software for Microsoft Windows

Cupertino, Calif. - February 14, 1996 - eVAULT, the leading remote backup
service, announces full support for Microsoft Windows. The new software,
eBACK for Windows, allows users to backup their critical files over the
phone lines to the eVAULT file server for safe-keeping. eBACK now has such
features as point-and-click file selection, fully integrated help
documentation, and a "Walking Tour" facility that guides the user through
the remote backup process by posting "sticky notes" on the screen with
simple instructions for each step. In addition, the file compression
algorithm has been improved to offer faster and better compression. All of
the features of the DOS version remain, including the ability to backup
directories and filters, the ability to specify proprietary compression
and encryption algorithms during backup, and the ability to schedule
backups as often as twice a day or as little as once a month.

The cost for remote backup with eVAULT is still very economical, starting
at $10.00 per month. eBACK software is available for DOS, Windows 3.1,
Windows 95, and OS/2 Warp operating systems. Versions for other operating
systems are in development. Users can open an account with eVAULT and
download the eBACK software from the eVAULT web site at
http://www.evault.com/evault. Visitors to the site can even win prizes by
entering the Disaster-Of-The-Month Contest.

About eVAULT

eVAULT is an outgrowth of Zeidman Consulting, a highly regarded consulting
firm in the Silicon Valley. Zeidman Consulting was formed in 1987 and
specializes in all forms of hardware and software design for large and
small clients throughout the world. Some of these clients include Alcatel,
Apple Computer, Cisco Systems, and Ricoh Corporation. Zeidman Consulting
works in partnerships with Advanced Micro Devices, Motorola, National
Instruments, and Texas Instruments.

In 1992, Bob Zeidman, president of Zeidman Consulting, began to realize the
need to store important data off-site. The loss of a single computer
design could cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to the company and
potentially put it out of business. This was particularly apparent after
the San Francisco earthquake of 1989 and the Oakland Hills fire of 1991.
Mr. Zeidman began searching for convenient, inexpensive methods of
off-site backup. There were none. He then set out to develop his own
method of off-site backup, which he called Remote Backup. Mr. Zeidman is
the president of eVAULT.
