DELL INTRODUCES FIRST DEDICATED SYSTEMS FOR K-12 MARKET

Systems are the first products resulting from Dell Education Alliance

AUSTIN, TEXAS, FEB. 13, 1996 -- Dell Computer Corporation (Nasdaq: DELL)
today introduced four customized Dell Learning Stations, which combine
hardware and software specifically designed to provide integrated computer
solutions for schools. The Learning Stations are a result of the Dell
Education Alliance, a partnership between Dell, leading K-12 software
developers and education technology providers.

The Dell Learning Stations combine powerful Dell systems and high- quality
educational software suites, utilize the latest multimedia technologies,
come with a compatibility guarantee+ and can be customized to fit
individual schools' needs. The new stations are available immediately
directly from Dell, starting at $1,899. The price includes the Dell
OptiPlex GL 575 system, 8 megabytes (MB) of random access memory (RAM), a
540 MB hard drive, a 4X CD-ROM drive, a SoundBlaster 16 audio card and a
three-year warranty from Dell.

"With these Learning Stations, Dell is providing the tools to make learning
exciting and to help America's educators take their lesson plans to
another level, allowing students to explore subject matter through sight,
sound and interaction," said Thomas M. Fitzgerald, director of education
sales at Dell. "We are offering schools powerful systems at affordable
prices. Educators will be using the best multimedia technology available
to enhance their lessons, bringing subjects to life."

Dell worked with the alliance partners to create the Learning Stations,
each utilizing Dell OptiPlex systems and the following four software
suites to enhance classroom curriculum:

* The Early Explorer Suite: For early learners, these programs develop
creativity, problem solving and critical thinking skills at a young age,
encouraging students to test their intellectual boundaries.

* The Science Discovery Suite: For middle and high school students, this
focused set of reference software allows for multimedia discovery of
people, space and the history and development of the science discipline.

* The Nature Discovery Suite: Designed for middle and high school students,
this set of software applications enables students to explore animals'
natural habitats and to see first- hand how animals interact with their
surroundings in the wild.

* Multimedia Reference Library: Perfect for teachers, this multimedia
library includes electronic encyclopedias on geography, science, nature
and biology.

"We're very pleased that Dell is the first hardware company in the industry
to offer Cartopedia, our latest CD-ROM title for the education
marketplace," said Bror Saxberg, vice president and publisher of DK
Multimedia. "Dell's powerful OptiPlex systems, combined with our
innovative software, make an outstanding offering for Dell's K-12
customers."

"With today's announcement, Dell becomes the first PC- compatible vendor to
offer Making Music to the marketplace, enabling students to study the
creative world of music in an exciting, entertaining way," said Bill High,
director of sales and marketing of The Voyager Company. "One of the many
advantages to a partnership between Voyager and Dell is Dell's ability to
get exciting new products, such as Making Music, to the market quickly."

Dell and the members of the education alliance work closely together to
address the diverse needs of school districts and educators. Expanding on
the concept of customization that has made Dell a leading computer
manufacturer, Dell offers schools and districts a choice of several
complete packages, allowing them to purchase systems that will best meet
their needs. The Dell Learning Stations allow educators to set district
standards, while still offering the flexibility to customize systems at
the school or classroom level.

Educators can also receive special academic prices on many additional
products, including Microsoft and Claris software applications.

"We are extremely excited about the success of the Dell Education Alliance
in bringing together top hardware and software developers to deliver
technology solutions to America's classrooms," Mr. Fitzgerald added.
"Dell's systems come with service guarantees, a compatibility guarantee,
and are certified to run in a variety of networked environments, making
them ideal for school districts."

Dell has addressed the need for America's schools to have technically
integrated classrooms and quality educational systems by bringing together
the nation's leading K-12 software developers and solutions providers to
create the Dell Education Alliance. Dell intends to continue to expand the
alliance, adding new leading software developers in the future. Software
