Cabletron Opens Five More European Offices

20 European Cabletron Offices: Key Senior Managers Appointed

ROCHESTER, NH -- February 5, 1996 -- Cabletron Systems (NYSE:CS) announced
today the opening of five new sales and support offices to support the $1
billion computer networking company's growing business in Europe. The new
offices, located in Brussels, Dusseldorf, Milan, Prague and Zurich will
provide sales and technical support as well as training for Cabletron's
customers and value added resellers (VARs).

Today, Cabletron operates 20 offices in Europe and 90 worldwide staffed by
5,500 employees including 1,200 engineers in the largest research and
development organization in the industry, including a manufacturing and
distribution facility in Ireland.

"This expansion is part of an overall European plan to reinforce country
level sales and support for all of our customers," said Joe Solari,
President for Europe, Middle-East and Africa (EMEA). "This, combined with
the expansion of the European management team to include some of the most
experienced professionals in the industry, will provide a strong platform
for continued substantial growth in EMEA."

Cabletron's 20 European offices will play a key role in the implementation
of Synergy-Plus, the new European Strategic Partner's program announced
earlier this year. Synergy-Plus was developed by Cabletron's European
management team to increase Cabletron's market presence in Europe,
Middle-East and Africa. While strengthening relationships with its
strategic value added resellers (VARS), integrators and national
telecommunications companies, Cabletron's sales force will continue a
direct relationship with large multinationals and institutions.
