Compuware's Conversion-XPERT Goes Beta - Delivers Powerful Data Migration
and Conversion

Solution Helps Simplify Complex Migration Tasks - Part of Compuware's
File-AID/CS Line of Data Management Solutions

FARMINGTON HILLS, MICH., FEBRUARY 19, 1996--Compuware Corporation (NASDAQ:
CPWR) today announced the beta version release of Conversion- XPERT, a new
software product that enables data migration, reformatting and conversion
for more than 60 data file formats. Conversion-XPERT simplifies the
processes of moving and converting data between mainframe and
client/server database environments. Users of Conversion- XPERT can
transfer and convert between a wide variety of data file formats, such as
VSAM, sequential, IMS, DB2, ADABAS, IDMS, Oracle, Sybase, Informix,
Ingres, SQL Server, Excel, and many more.

"We've had huge success in using Compuware's line of File and Data
Management products," said Lee Burton, AVP-Systems Consultant at First
Union Bank in Charlotte, North Carolina. "With Conversion- XPERT, we're
now looking forward to reformatting and transferring our MVS mainframe
data files to Oracle UNIX databases. But that's just our most immediate
requirement. There is a great need for a software product such as
Conversion-XPERT to bridge the gap between mainframe and PC-based
databases. Conversion-XPERT combines a wide scope of capabilities and ease
of use to make it immediately beneficial for any company needing to move
data easily between platforms."

"Conversion-XPERT takes the hassle out of migrating data," said Gail Ruby,
Compuware's product manager for Conversion-XPERT. "Developers can transfer
and reformat data through Conversion- XPERT's graphical interface, even if
they lack specific technical knowledge of the data environments. They can
use existing data structures, such as relational database catalogs and C
or COBOL record layouts, as templates to graphically define the changes to
be made to the data. This beats the time-consuming alternative-writing
one-time programs or scripts."

Conversion-XPERT is part of File-AID/CS, Compuware's suite of data
management software products for client/server developers. The suite of
products currently includes DATA-XPERT, a tool that automates the
development of test databases for Oracle and DB2 Common Server.

Conversion-XPERT is comprehensive in its features, simple to use and
cost-effective. The product does not require developers to spend time
learning proprietary scripting languages or developing complex data
dictionaries. Developers can use Conversion-XPERT to quickly add,
rearrange or delete fields; change data types; truncate or pad data; and
perform a host of other functions. Conversion-XPERT converts data between
similar or dissimilar data sources, and between EBCDIC- and ASCII-based
codes.

Configuration, Pricing and Availability

Conversion-XPERT currently supports Windows 3.1 clients, MVS mainframes,
and can optionally access data on any UNIX or PC server that is accessible
from the Windows 3.1 client. Support for Windows95 and NT verisons is
expected to be available second quarter '96. Pricing starts at US $15,000.
Conversion-XPERT is planned to be generally available on March 25, 1996.
