Compaq Supplies Deskpro PCs for CNNfn -- the financial network -- Compaq
PCs Connect CNNfn Journalists with Guests Nationwide

HOUSTON, Feb. 7, 1996 -- Compaq Computer Corporation (NYSE:CPQ) today
announced it is supplying personal computers and monitors to CNNfn, Turner
Broadcast System, Inc.'s new financial news network. Compaq Deskpro XL
personal computers equipped with specially customized Intel ProShare video
conferencing systems will be used as part of a breakthrough technological
application called "inter.face" that will enable guests to be interviewed
live, via their desktop PC, by CNNfn journalists.

"Inter.face" creates for CNNfn a 'virtual newsroom,' eliminating the
constraints of television studios and microwave trucks traditionally
needed to interview guests on camera for live television. CNNfn anchors
will interview financial analysts, economists, management experts and CEOs
on business and financial news as it happens, using Compaq computers and
monitors positioned in their places of work. CNNfn debuted on December 29,
with 12 hours of original programming each weekday.

The Compaq Deskpro XL PCs and 21-inch high-performance QVision monitors
supplied to CNNfn will be linked via a high-speed, fiber-optic network
from MFS Datanet. The Compaq Deskpro XL PCs will allow experts from
business, technology and commerce centers including New York, Chicago,
Boston, Houston, and San Francisco, to talk with CNNfn correspondents and
each other from a "mini-studio" in their places of work. This mini-studio
is complete with a camera and monitor set up on the computer.

"Personal computers continue to expand their reach, and CNNfn's 'virtual
newsroom' is an ideal example of the PC's ever-increasing potential," said
John T. Rose, Compaq's senior vice president and general manager,
Commercial Desktop Division.

"Compaq is proud to partner with CNN as it again redefines the way news and
information is disseminated, putting state-of-the-art computer technology
to work to open a whole new avenue to the business and financial
community. This is only the beginning of a broader technology sharing
relationship," Rose added.

"With the new 'inter.face' technology, the business world is our studio,"
said CNN executive vice president Lou Dobbs. "We chose Compaq to provide
the Deskpro XL personal computers for CNNfn because of the company's solid
reputation for reliable, superior products. Inter.face will enable us to
provide viewers with expert commentary and analysis of the news as it
happens, which is fundamental to the success of this network."

The leading provider of desktop PCs to businesses worldwide, Compaq has
continued to break new ground in delivering innovative and practical
technology in its family of Deskpro and ProLinea products. Compaq and
Intel have been working together for more than a year to enable Compaq PCs
to take advantage of ProShare technology.

"Intel and Compaq share a vision of delivering high-performance,
value-based conferencing solutions. By fully integrating video
conferencing capabilities into Compaq personal computers, we can deliver
real- time communications to the world through venues like CNNfn," said
Pat Gelsinger, vice president and general manager, Intel Personal
Conferencing Division.
