COMPUSERVE HOSTS THIRD ANNUAL CYBERSPACE JAMBOREE

Scouts From Around the World Gather Online

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Feb. 19, 1996 -- Scouts around the world will gather online
in the CompuServe Scouting Forum area (GO SCOUTING) for the third World
Cyberspace Jamboree Friday, Feb. 23 through Sunday, Feb. 25. U.S. Senator
and former astronaut John Glenn will provide welcoming greetings to all
participants via electronic mail.

The jamboree is being held in conjunction with the organization's Founder's
Day, which celebrates the birthday of Lord Robert Baden-Powell, who began
the Scouting movement 86 years ago. The worldwide Scouting organization
now includes 25 million boys and girls in 73 countries.

"Many scouts are already participating in the online world," said U.S.
Jamboree Coordinator Bob Beatty, of CompuServe. "CompuServe's Cyberspace
Jamboree gives them the perfect opportunity to communicate with one
another. Last year's Jamboree included 700 young people from 20 countries
on six continents. They discussed scouting, as well as the many other
interests common to kids of all ages, no matter where they live.

"This sort of online gathering truly demonstrates the Fourth Law of
Scouting," Beatty continued. "A Scout is a friend to all and a
brother/sister to every other Scout, no matter what country, class or
creed to which the other may belong."

The conference will run all weekend, and youth of all ages are encouraged
to visit the Scouting Forum. In the Columbus area, the
CompuServe-sponsored Explorer Post will be online in CompuServe's Hilliard
facilities from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24. Scouts who are not
CompuServe members, but would like to participate in the conference, can
receive a free introductory membership by calling 800/848-8199 in the
United States, 0800-289-378 in Great Britain or 1800-025-240 in Australia.
The online Jamboree's world coordinator is Ian Loxton of Australia.

CompuServe President and CEO Bob Massey is one of 54 CompuServe associates
in Columbus who are Eagle Scouts. Among worldwide associates are eight
Gold Award Girl Scouts, one Chief Scout and one Queen's Guide.
