QSound Labs and Crystal Semiconductor Bring QXpander Surround Sound
Technology to Computer Audio Systems

CALGARY, ALBERTA AND AUSTIN, TEXAS -- JANUARY 30, 1996 -- QSound Labs, Inc.
(TSE: QSL and Nasdaq: QSNDF) and Crystal Semiconductor Corporation, a
wholly owned subsidiary of Cirrus Logic Inc. (Nasdaq: CRUS), today
announced a licensing agreement to integrate the QSound Labs QXpander
stereo-to-surround-sound technology into a new generation of Crystal
single-chip audio subsystems. The patented QSound 3D audio technology is
designed for a diverse range of applications, including multimedia
computers, consumer electronics, electronic gaming, home theater and
professional sound products. Crystal's audio subsystem that integrates
QSound technology is targeted primarily for PC multimedia applications.

Crystal's new audio subsystem offers pin-for-pin compatibility with
Crystal's CS4232 and CS4236 industry-standard audio codecs, allowing the
addition of QXpander technology without hardware or software re-designs.
The QSound technology will be incorporated into Crystal products scheduled
for release later this quarter.
