CANDLE CORPORATION ANNOUNCES MANAGEMENT SOLUTION FOR IBM'S MQSERIES

CANDLE COMMAND CENTER FOR MQSERIES HELPS CUSTOMERS OPTIMIZE SYSTEM
PERFORMANCE AND AVAILABILITY

SANTA MONICA, CALIF., FEB. 21, 1996 -- Candle Corporation, a leading
supplier of solutions for systems, network and console management across
the enterprise, today announced general availability of the Candle Command
Center for MQSeries Version 100. This new solution from Candle gives users
a powerful tool that helps eliminate costly threats to availability by
ensuring optimal performance of all key resources in an MQSeries
environment. By providing a consolidated view of the performance of
MQSeries resources, Version 100 of the Candle Command Center for MQSeries
provides a thorough understanding of all key resources and gives customers
a solution to monitor and tune the MQSeries environment. With access to
detailed information about MQSeries resources, users can detect potential
problems fast and correct them quickly, thereby protecting applications
from expensive threats to availability. As the only vendor that enables
the MQSeries solution to be integrated with other Candle Command Center
(CCC)solutions, Candle provides customers with a view of their entire
enterprise. "For nearly 20 years Candle has been in leader in delivering
solutions that enable customers to get the most out of their information
systems investments," said Aubrey Chernick, chairman and CEO, Candle.
"Today, we're helping users overcome their reluctance of implementing
MQSeries solutions by providing them with tools to manage this
environment."

HIGH-LEVEL BENEFITS

The Candle Command Center for MQSeries offers a number of key customer
benefits:

Enables monitoring of messaging and queuing from the enterprise
 perspective.

Provides a thorough understanding of the performance of all key
 MQ resources.

Monitors MQ performance by exception to better direct problem
 resolution.

Locates problems and bottlenecks across multiple nodes.

Helps control costs by protecting applications from expensive
 threats to availability.

PRODUCT FUNCTIONALITY

The Candle Command Center for MQSeries helps users understand the
intricacies of their MQSeries environment so that they may tune the
resources for optimal performance. In addition to providing current
information about MQSeries events, the CCC for MQSeries provides
historical data so that users can resolve on-going problems and
reconfigure systems as necessary. The solution monitors:

Queue manager status -- provides an overview of all queue managers
to help users understand where slowdowns occur.

Queue manager performance -- allows users to see how well traffic
 flows through each queue manager.

Queue manager buffers -- helps users identify buffer usage and
configuration in order to understand performance problems and
 maximize resource allocations.

Queue manager log -- helps users manage log performance by ensuring
 that systems are running smoothly.

Queue manager channel performance -- ensures that channels are
 functioning properly.

Dead letter queue management -- helps users manage the dead letter
 queue.

"We're just beginning to work with IBM's MQSeries and find that we need
some additional tools to help manage this environment," said Arco P.G.
Groothedde, manager, technical infrastructure, Interpay Bankgirocentrale.
"The Candle Command Center for MQSeries monitors our message queuing and
provides us with critical information about the performance of our
MQSeries environment."

The Candle Command Center for MQSeries currently runs on MVS, but is
capable of reporting events on other platforms. In the future, the CCC for
MQSeries will support AIX and OS/2. Additional platforms will also be
supported and are under consideration. Based on Candle's object-oriented
Candle Technologies (CT) infrastructure, which includes engineering
breakthroughs in systems management, such as visual programming of alerts
and automation rules, the CCC for MQSeries employs a graphical user
interface that contributes to its ease-of- use. The Candle Command Center
