COMPUTER ASSOCIATES AND FUJITSU INTRODUCE JASMINE

First Object-Oriented Database For A New Class Of Robust, Multimedia
Business Applications

World-Class Object Database Makes Application Development Quick And Easy

NEW YORK, January 30, 1996--Computer Associates and Fujitsu Limited today
announced Jasmine, the first robust object-oriented database for rapid
development and deployment of multimedia, client/server, Intranet and
Internet applications.

Jasmine brings together the strengths of a scaleable, distributed,
object-oriented database with a revolutionary development environment.
Developers can easily build applications with intuitive multimedia
representation of complex real-world activities and data. These
applications can execute on client workstations, either standalone or
within a Web-browser.

Jasmine combines Fujitsu's world-renowned object technology with CA's
highly-scaleable, robust database technology and innovative user
interface. It offers developers an object-oriented platform ideally suited
for multimedia applications while delivering the integrity, security and
transaction management required for mainstream business applications.

"Jasmine is a major breakthrough," said CA Chairman and CEO Charles B.
Wang. "Organizations are trying to build multimedia applications for
traditional client/server and new Web environments. Jasmine's powerful
object-oriented database makes it possible."

"Using graphics, animation, audio and video, Jasmine lets organizations
construct a new breed of applications that mirror their business
environment," said Fujitsu Limited Director of the Board and General
Manager of Middleware Products Group Tatsuzumi Furukawa. "These
applications define a new level of intuitiveness and ease-of-use, letting
businesses reach out to a new community of users."

The same application can be deployed in traditional client/server
environments and over corporate Intranets and the Internet using Jasmine's
Web-browser add-in. Jasmine embraces the growing number of complex
technologies for Web-based applications --including HTML, ISAPI, NSAPI,
Java and Visual Basic-- and facilitates their integration through
language-specific plug-ins. It integrates with Netscape's Commerce and
Internet servers and Spyglass' Web Server. Jasmine will also integrate
with products such as Microsoft's Internet Information Server, upon its
availability.

Jasmine features a small footprint multimedia execution system, operating
standalone or as a Web browser add-in. Going beyond conventional add-ins,
Jasmine applications execute in a distributed architecture, dividing tasks
between its desktop client and robust object database.

Along with an object-oriented database, Jasmine features an easy- to-use
multimedia authoring tool and a rich set of class libraries that can be
used as building blocks. Developers can create new class libraries to
augment the ones built into Jasmine.

Jasmine's seamless development and execution environment is fully
customizable. Users can tailor applications to meet individual
requirements.

POSITIVE INDUSTRY REACTION

ABERDEEN GROUP

"Stop, look and listen!" said Peter Kastner, vice president. "Someday, all
databases will have the Internet commerce-enabled (ICE) features of
Jasmine -- but not soon. In the meantime, Jasmine has outstanding features
for developing next-generation applications that are rich in multimedia
and non-traditional data types while recognizing that distributed
applications require careful management and control."

META GROUP

"Jasmine will become a landmark product in the CA portfolio, representing
CA's intent to lead rather than follow the market," said Natasha Krol,
vice president and service director of Advanced Information Management.
"Jasmine's multimedia authoring capabilities, coupled with a strong
content management environment, positions it well for the 'new media', as
well as Internet WWW HTML-based applications. In addition, a combination
of Jasmine and legacy applications has the potential to add new luster to
the corporate 'crown jewels'."

MICROSOFT CORPORATION

"We're pleased to see that CA has embraced ISAPI, and is making integration
with it and our Internet Information Server a priority in Jasmine," said
Paul Maritz, group vice president. "This will enable CA to provide strong
Intranet and Internet solutions for our mutual customers."

NETSCAPE COMMUNICATIONS CORP.

"As businesses continue to harness the power of the Internet, robust
business applications and development tools will be in great demand," said
Marc Andreessen, vice president and co- founder. "Combining Netscape's
open software platform with CA's new Jasmine technology is another way
Netscape is making it easy for our customers to access the wealth of
resources available on their enterprise networks and the Internet."

SUN MICROSYSTEMS, INC.

"Sun has been on the leading edge in helping businesses exploit the
opportunities that the Internet has to offer with technologies such as
Java and JavaScript," said Scott McNealy, chairman, president and chief
executive officer. "As business use of the Internet expands, it will drive
increased demand for robust object-oriented databases such as Jasmine to
bring new usability and functionality to the net."

Jasmine's object-oriented database server runs on Windows NT and UNIX. The
development environment operates on Windows 95 or Windows NT. The
execution environment supports Windows 95, Windows NT, Mac and UNIX;
popular Web-browsers are supported through the Jasmine add-in runtime.

The Jasmine SDK is currently available at no cost for third parties to
develop additional class libraries and new applications. For more
