COMPUTER ASSOCIATES AND FUJITSU STRENGTHEN ALLIANCE

Jasmine Object Database Provides Foundation For New Class of Applications

Widespread Support From Third-Party Vendors

NEW YORK, January 30, 1996--Computer Associates and Fujitsu Limited
strengthen their alliance today with the introduction of Jasmine, a
breakthrough technology for easy development and deployment of networked
multimedia business applications.

Jasmine combines world-class object database technology from Fujitsu with a
revolutionary multimedia application development environment. Applications
developed with Jasmine can be rapidly deployed in client/server, Intranet
and Internet environments.

Jasmine's open architecture creates a wealth of opportunities for
third-party solution providers and independent software vendors to design
highly reusable business components. The development and marketing of
these components will provide the critical mass to quickly build an
industry around Jasmine.

"Jasmine represents the next generation of database technology," said CA
Chairman and CEO Charles B. Wang. "Global organizations from Yamanouchi
Pharmaceuticals to the Australian Bureau of Statistics have implemented
mission-critical applications using Fujitsu's object technology. The
combination of this proven object technology and CA's database prowess
raises business applications to the next level."

"Businesses around the world have long recognized the need for applications
which can respond to the dynamic needs of their markets," said Fujitsu
Limited Director of the Board and General Manager of Middleware Products
Group Tatsuzumi Furukawa. "Now, with the Jasmine object database solution,
not only can these applications be delivered quickly but they can be
architected to deliver solutions that current technology cannot provide."

Jasmine is ideally suited for the development of cross-industry
applications such as electronic catalogs, kiosks, customer support and
sales force automation, as well as industry-specific applications in
sectors such as insurance, financial services, manufacturing,
pharmaceuticals, health care and telecommunications.

Applications constructed with Jasmine are easily customizable to match
specific business requirements. This customization can be performed by IS
professionals or end users.

Organizations from around the world lined up today in support of Jasmine.

ABERDEEN GROUP

"Stop, look and listen!" said Peter Kastner, vice president. "Someday, all
databases will have the Internet commerce-enabled (ICE) features of
Jasmine -- but not soon. In the meantime, Jasmine has outstanding features
for developing next-generation applications that are rich in multimedia
and non-traditional data types while recognizing that distributed
applications require careful management and control."

META GROUP

"Jasmine will become a landmark product in the CA portfolio, representing
CA's intent to lead rather than follow the market," said Natasha Krol,
vice president and service director of Advanced Information Management.
"Jasmine's multimedia authoring capabilities, coupled with a strong
content management environment, positions it well for the 'new media', as
well as Internet WWW HTML-based applications. In addition, a combination
of Jasmine and legacy applications has the potential to add new luster to
the corporate 'crown jewels'."

MICROSOFT CORPORATION

"We're pleased to see that CA has embraced ISAPI, and is making integration
with it and our Internet Information Server a priority in Jasmine," said
Paul Maritz, group vice president. "This will enable CA to provide strong
Intranet and Internet solutions for our mutual customers."

NETSCAPE COMMUNICATIONS CORP.

"As businesses continue to harness the power of the Internet, robust
business applications and development tools will be in great demand," said
Marc Andreessen, vice president and co- founder. "Combining Netscape's
open software platform with CA's new Jasmine technology is another way
Netscape is making it easy for our customers to access the wealth of
resources available on their enterprise networks and the Internet."

SUN MICROSYSTEMS, INC.

"Sun has been on the leading edge in helping businesses exploit the
opportunities that the Internet has to offer with technologies such as
Java and JavaScript," said Scott McNealy, chairman, president and chief
executive officer. "As business use of the Internet expands, it will drive
increased demand for robust object-oriented databases such as Jasmine to
bring new usability and functionality to the net."

The Jasmine SDK is currently available at no cost for third parties to
develop additional class libraries and new applications. For more
