WRQ Reflection TCP/IP first to be certified for AT&T's CPDP service

FEBRUARY 21, 1996 -- SEATTLE -- WRQ, maker of Reflection PC connectivity
software, today announced it is the first TCP/IP vendor to receive
certification from AT&T's Wireless Services, Data Division for use on its
Cellular Digital Packet Data (CDPD) service based on the new CDPD 1.1
specification.

WRQ submitted its Reflection Network Series TCP/IP software for a battery
of compatibility tests conducted by AT&T in December 1995, and received
notice last week it was the first vendor to pass.

The new CDPD 1.1 specification is an important step in the evolution of
wireless data technology, and promises to accelerate the adoption of
wireless data services as a corporate solution for mobile connectivity.
The 1.1 specification will add to CDPD such features as intercarrier
connectivity (roaming) and data compression.

WRQ's TCP/IP has achieved widespread acceptance because of technology that
optimizes TCP/IP performance in wireless data environments. These
optimizations include:

DYNAMIC LINK RECOVERY, which recovers a lost wireless network link
and allows interrupted data transmissions to be picked up where
 they left off upon reconnection

PROGRESSIVE ACKNOWLEDGMENTS, which help minimize the amount of
TCP overhead in transmissions, thereby saving wireless bandwidth
 and reducing costs

SYNCHRONIZED RETRANSMISSION, which helps reduce the number of
 retransmissions, improving TCP/IP throughput.

Said Len Bargellini, strategic relations manager at AT&T Wireless Services,
Data Division, "Our testing of Reflection reinforced the fact that all
stacks are not created equal; some are better suited for mobile and
wireless connectivity. From working with WRQ since the introduction of
CDPD, we have seen a number of ways that their stack is optimized for
CDPD."

Said Chris Bradley, WRQ's product manager for remote and mobile computing,
"We've learned a lot from working with AT&T and their customers, and
that's reflected in our product technology. Their use of standardized
certification testing helps TCP/IP vendors like WRQ make sure we're doing
the right things to meet the challenges presented in a wireless data
environment. The combination of Reflection TCP/IP and AT&T's CDPD service
makes for a solution that customers can depend on."

About AT&T Wireless Services

AT&T Wireless Services is among the nation's largest providers of wireless
voice and data communication and messaging services and is a world leader
in air-to-ground communications services. The Wireless Data Division of
AT&T Wireless Services is a recognized leader in the development of
wireless data communications. It offers two forms of cellular data
service: Wireless Packet Data Service is based on CDPD technology;
Wireless Circuit Data Service is based on cellular circuit-switched data
technology. These complementary technologies are designed to meet the
entire spectrum of business data communications requirements, from short
transactions, such as messaging, data entry, and dispatch to longer
sessions typical of file transfers and interactive computing. For
