ClearCase 2.1 For Windows NT

Atria Software Enhances Premier Windows NT Software Configuration
Management Tool

ClearCase 2.1 for Windows NT Provides Enhanced User Interface; Integration
with Desktop Development Environments; and Improved Support for
Heterogeneous Computing Environments

Lexington, MA, January 29, 1996 -- Atria Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: ATSW)
today announced ClearCase 2.1 for Windows NT, a new version of Atria's
software configuration management tool for medium- to large-size Windows
NT development teams. Developers now have a better user interface to
ClearCase functions from the desktop; can take advantage of comprehensive
software configuration management (SCM) capabilities from within Visual
Basic and Visual C++; and can more easily share ClearCase data across
multiplatform networks.

"ClearCase 2.1 for Windows NT, combined with our new ClearCase Attache 2.0
Windows client product, further demonstrates Atria's leadership in
providing accessible SCM power across the enterprise," said Paul Levine,
President and CEO of Atria Software. "Many organizations are adopting
Windows 95 and Windows NT as both development ad deployment platforms, and
it is Atria's goal to provide developers with flexible SCM tools to
support their development efforts.

ClearCase for Windows NT provides programmer teams with the comprehensive
SCM capabilities necessary for developing and maintaining complex
applications. ClearCase's SCM features include: advanced version control,
rule-based workspace management, accurate build management and flexible
process control. ClearCase provides these capabilities without requiring
developers to change their existing environment, their tools or the way
they work.

Enhanced User Interface -- ClearCase 2.1 for Windows NT adds a new
interface that provides developers with access to ClearCase functions from
within familiar environments. A unique integration with the Windows File
Manager provides users with a better understanding of complex software
projects, increasing productivity through access to ClearCase controlled
data.

New Visual Basic and Visual C++ Integrations -- New support for Microsoft's
Common Source Code Control (SCC) Interface provides Windows developers
with access to comprehensive SCM from within Visual Basic and Visual C++.
This assists technical and corporate development teams building complex
applications for Windows NT, Windows 95, Windows 3.1 and Windows for
Workgroups 3.11. Support for the SCC Interface will also allow ClearCase
to more easily integrate with other third-party development tools that
conform to the SCC specification.

Support for Heterogeneous Computing Environments -- ClearCase 2.1 for
Windows NT now features easier interoperability with ClearCase on leading
UNIX systems, which improves the ability for users to share ClearCase data
across today's multiplatform environments, and it allows large or
geographically distributed teams to better manage their work across
heterogeneous UNIX and Windows NT environments.

Pricing and Availability -- Atria plans to ship ClearCase 2.1 for Windows
NT in the first quarter of 1996. Pricing in the United States for
ClearCase 2.1 for Windows NT is $4,000 for the first floating user
license. Quantity discounts and maintenance are available. ClearCase is
also available for leading UNIX systems, including Digital, HP, IBM,
Novell, SGI, and Sun.
