America Online and Reebok Announce Winners of First Ever Online Music
Awards

Hollywood, CA, February 6, 1996 -- America Online announced today the
winners of The First Annual Online Music Awards (OMA's). Thomas Dolby
presented awards to musical artists in a live event that took place last
night in AOL Live, a cyberauditorium on America Online, and The House of
Blues in Los Angeles. Musical Artists Linda Davis, Alanis Morissette, and
Russ Freeman and The Rippingtons participated in the awards ceremony.

In January, AOL members nominated their favorite music artists to win an
OMA award in 51 categories including "Reebok Artist Activist," "Best
(Music) Cybersite," and "Most Active Artist Online." Over 850,000 votes
were submitted by members in their favorite artist, music and cybersites
categories.

Among the winners were the Grateful Dead for Best Music Cybersite, Jimmy
Buffet for Most Active Artist Online, and Hootie & the Blowfish for Album
of the Year and Best Rock/Pop Group.

"We wanted to thank AOL and all of our friends in Cyberspace for nominating
us, " said Smitty of Hootie & the Blowfish. " Everyone at AOL, from
programmers to subscribers, has been very cool to us for a long time now,
and we can't thank you guys enough for your encouragement and support.
Can't wait to chat with y'all again in '96!"

"This is very cool. Being honored during your first year of awards makes it
even more special. Thanks for your faith in me. God Bless." said Garth
Brooks, triple OMA winner this year with Best Country Artist, Hottest
Country Album, and Best Country Male Vocalist.

R.E.M. was awarded The Reebok Artist Activist Award, an award given to the
musical artist that AOL members consider to have made the biggest
contribution to environmental and/or humanitarian causes during the last
year. For other winners listings, please go to Keyword: OMA on America
