Adobe PhotoDeluxe 1.0 Consumer Photo Editing Software for Macintosh Now
Available

Mtn. View, Calif. (January 29, 1996) (Nasdaq:ADBE) -- Adobe Systems
Incorporated today announced the availability of Adobe PhotoDeluxe Version
1.0 for Macintosh, the company's new consumer photo enhancement software
program. Adobe PhotoDeluxe brings powerful image-editing technology to the
consumer market through an easy-to-use interface and dozens of built-in
templates that guide users through the process of modifying, personalizing
and enhancing their photographs.

Adobe PhotoDeluxe software enables consumers to use their photographs in a
variety of ways from incorporating them into greeting cards and calendars,
to creating photo collages and removing the unwanted "red eye" effect. In
addition, the product comes with several special in-box offers from Apple,
Berkeley Systems, Fuji, Kodak and MetaTools to help get users started
using digital technology. Adobe also announced alliances with America
Online's PictureWeb online picture service, Epson and Casio earlier this
month to help further the digital photography market.

Adobe PhotoDeluxe for Macintosh is available immediately on CD-ROM with an
estimated street price of $89. The product is available from Adobe
resellers and by calling Adobe direct at 1-800-888- 6293. A Windows
version of the Adobe PhotoDeluxe program is expected to be available in
the first quarter 1996.

"The convergence of powerful home computers and affordable scanners,
digital cameras and color printers have made for excellent conditions for
Adobe PhotoDeluxe to enter the market, bringing a complete digital
solution to the growing consumer market," said Bruce Chizen, vice
president, Adobe Systems consumer products group. "With Adobe PhotoDeluxe
and our industry-leading Adobe Photoshop, Adobe continues to lead the
digital imaging market with products that address the needs of both novice
and professional users."

Digital Photography Alliances

Adobe announced alliances earlier this month with America Online's
PictureWeb online picture service, Epson and Casio to help advance the
consumer digital photography market by providing easy methods for
digitizing and working with photographs. Adobe is working with PictureWeb
picture service on America Online to provide Adobe PhotoDeluxe users
access to the service's online photo digitization service, as well as 10
free hours on America Online for new members. Adobe also announced that
Adobe PhotoDeluxe for Macintosh will be bundled with a new low-cost
compact 24- bit color flatbed scanner from Epson, the Epson Action
Scanning System II. And, in an announcement from Casio, Adobe PhotoDeluxe
for Macintosh and Windows will be bundled with Casio's full line of
digital cameras.

Creating Fun Photo Projects

Adobe PhotoDeluxe software offers many of the same rich features as found
in Adobe Photoshop, but is geared for home and small business users. The
product features a user-friendly interface that visually guides users
through a series of easy-to-follow steps for modifying photos. The program
provides users two modes of working in the program: Guided Activities and
On Your Own. In Guided Activities mode, the user interface walks both
novice and expert users through each step of the photo modification and
enhancement process. On Your Own provides access to all the tools and
features offered in Guided Activities, but allows users to work in a more
flexible environment.

Guided Activities provides a variety of projects including improving image
quality, applying special effects and creating greeting cards and
calendars. Adobe PhotoDeluxe simplifies each project by guiding users
through each step in the activity from opening a photo file to saving and
printing. Any of these projects can then be further modified in the On
Your Own mode using the same tools users have become familiar with in
Guided Activities.

Adobe PhotoDeluxe Additional Features

Adobe PhotoDeluxe combines step-by-step guidance with powerful tools that
are easy to use. Features such as Layers and Hold Photo allow users to add
up to six layers in one project and hold pieces of their photos or photo
projects until they are ready to work with them. The product's color
retouching tools for improving image quality are as easy as the click of a
button. And, simple Selection and Editing tools make it easy to isolate
areas of a photo to be modified or enhanced.

In addition, the program comes with more than 500 templates, photos and
clip-art images, including more than 60 images from DiAMAR Portfolios
professional stock photography. Adobe PhotoDeluxe also supports
third-party plug-in filters for Adobe Photoshop for adding fun, artistic
and cool special effects to images.

Adobe PhotoDeluxe supports standard file formats, including Kodak Digital
Science Photo CD images and images from any TWAIN-compatible scanner
(input), plus PICT, TIFF, BMP, JPEG, and GIF. In addition, photos or
projects can be output to a variety of color or black and white printers,
or sent to family and friends electronically using the Adobe Portable
Document Format (PDF) or the GIF format option.
