Plug-in Filters Offer 32-Bit Support Under Windows 95; Reduced Price on
Three-Volume Set For Windows or Macintosh

Mountain View, Calif. (January 30, 1996)(Nasdaq: ADBE) -- Adobe Systems
Incorporated today announced the availability of Adobe Gallery Effects
version 1.5.2, a Windows 95-compatible version of the three-volume
collection of Adobe Photoshop plug-in filters. The new version now offers
32-bit support allowing enhanced efficiency and improved performance on
the Windows 95 or Windows NT platform. In addition, the Adobe Gallery
Effects for Windows and Macintosh packages now offer all three volumes on
a single CD-ROM and comes with both 16-bit and 32-bit versions of the 48
filters included in the program. The single CD-ROM is now offered at a
suggested retail price of $99, reduced from a previous SRP of $149 per
volume. Users of previous version of Adobe Gallery Effects can upgrade for
$29.95. The newly repriced and repackaged Windows 95-compatible and
Macintosh versions are available immediately from Adobe Authorized
Resellers, or by calling Adobe direct at 1-800-521-1976.

Adobe Gallery Effects is a comprehensive collection of traditional media
filters for customizing, adding artistic effects, and enhancing
photographs and other bitmapped graphics. The new Windows 95-compatible
version will work with any 16-bit or 32-bit application that supports
plug-in filters compatible with Adobe Photoshop. Adobe Gallery Effects
extends the graphic-enhancement capabilities of other image-editing and
painting programs, including video-editing and effects pro-grams through
its support of the Adobe Photoshop plug-in interface.

"Adobe Gallery Effects with Adobe Photoshop lets us take our creativity to
a new level, instantly creating natural media effects that would otherwise
be tremendously painstaking to create from scratch," said Scott Kelby,
president of Kelby Creative Services, Inc., a Dunedin, Florida-based
adver-tising agency. "And, having both Windows 95 and Macintosh versions
of the program will be a boon for any cross-platform design shop like
ours. We use a number of freelancers and the ability to spec our favorite
Gallery Effects filters on any platform, including now the Windows 95
platform, is very important to us."

Three Volumes Offer 48 Filters on One CD-ROM

The newly repackaged Adobe Gallery Effects for Windows and Macintosh now
combine all 48 plug-in filters onto one CD-ROM and includes both 16- and
32-bit versions, with the appropriate version automatically installing
depending on the user's system. Volume 1 offers a wide range of
sophisticated effects to give images a classic look. The set contains 16
master filters, including Chalk & Charcoal, Watercolor, Fresco, Chrome,
Graphic Pen, Craquelure, Dark Strokes, Dry Brush, Emboss, Mosaic, Poster
Edges, Ripple, Smudge Stick, Spatter, Charcoal and Film Grain.

The filters in Volume 2 emphasize bold painting and drawing styles, as well
as photographic effects. Its 16 filters include Accented Edges, Angled
Strokes, Colored Pencil, Diffuse Glow, Glowing Edges, Grain, Note Paper,
Palette Knife, Patchwork, Photocopy, Rough Pastel, Sprayed Strokes, Stamp,
Texturizer, Bas Relief and Underpainting.

Volume 3 supplies a well-balanced collection of filters that automatically
transform scanned photo-graphs and other bitmapped images into dramatic
artwork. Effects such as Cutout, Plaster and Plastic Wrap quickly create
distinctive visuals that can be difficult to produce in other
applications. Other filters in Volume 3 include Crosshatch, Glass,
Halftone Screen, Ink Outlines, Neon Glow, Paint Daubs, Sponge, Stained
Glass, Torn Edges, Conte Crayon, Reticulation, Sumi-e and Water Paper.

Photoshop-compatible plug-in filters. System configu-ration is determined
by the host application.
