World's Leading Image-Editing Software Adds Features for Windows 95
Operating System; Improved Support for Creating Web Images

Mtn. View, Calif. (January 30, 1996) (NASDAQ:ADBE) -- Adobe Systems
Incorporated today announced the immediate availability of the Microsoft
Windows 95 logo compliant update, Version 3.0.5, for Adobe Photoshop for
Windows. The Adobe Photoshop 3.0.5 update adds features designed to take
advantage of the Windows 95 operating system, including support for OLE
2.0 object server and drag-and-drop support on Windows 95 and Windows NT.
In addition, the update provides support for the new TWAIN_32 scanning
standard, as well as improved performance when running 16-bit scanning
modules and filter plug-ins under Windows 95. The update also comes with
the new GIF89a export plug-in for greater control over the creation of GIF
files for distribution on the World Wide Web.

The Adobe Photoshop 3.0.5 update for Windows 95 is available on CD-ROM for
$19.95, or on both CD-ROM and floppy disks for $29.95. Adobe is also
offering the 3.0.5 update with two special offers--the new Kai's Power
Tools 3 set of 32-bit special effects filters for Windows or the
three-volume set of new 32-bit Adobe Gallery Effects filters for Windows.
Both specials are offered on CD-ROM only for the price of $99.95 each. The
update and special offers can be purchased direct from Adobe by calling
1-800-521-1976. The full version of Adobe Photoshop 3.0 for Windows
including the update is available from Adobe and through Authorized Adobe
Resellers for the suggested retail price of $895.

"Adobe Photoshop is already the image-editing software of choice for
Windows users. And now, with version 3.0.5, our Windows-based customers
will enjoy even greater performance and functionality as they migrate to
the Windows 95 platform," said John Kunze, vice president of Adobe
graphics and publishing products. "In addition, users will be able to
quickly and easily repurpose their images for use on the World Wide Web
with the new GIF plug-in--furthering Photoshop software's appeal as one of
the leading authoring tools among Webmasters and Web designers."

Enhancements for Windows 95

The new Adobe Photoshop 3.0.5 update for Windows 95 includes several
performance and functionality enhancements to bear the "Designed for
Windows 95" logo. The 32-bit Adobe Photoshop will continue to run under
Windows 3.1 and Windows NT 3.5, as well as take advantage of the Windows
95 platform. The 3.0.5 update supports OLE 2.0 object linking, embedding
and drag-and- drop functionality. This allows for easy integration between
Photoshop and other OLE-supported applications such as Adobe PageMaker 6.0
for Windows. Other additions include adoption of the Windows 95 "look and
feel," support for long filenames and UNC pathnames, and right mouse
button support for activating the Commands palette.

The 3.0.5 update also includes support for the new TWAIN_32 standard , a
32-bit scanning standard for faster, more robust scanning. In addition,
the 3.0.5 update improves compatibility when running existing 16-bit
scanning and filter plug-ins under Windows 95.

Other performance improvements offered with the 3.0.5 update include
optimizations for multiple processors under Windows NT and support for the
new Wacom UltraPen eraser.

"Adobe Photoshop has always been a strong market leader, with the Windows
version owning more than sixty-percent of high-end image-editing software
revenues," said Joan-Carol Brigham, senior consultant, International Data
Corporation. "Adobe continues to take advantage of new technologies by
offering the most sophisticated tools for computing environments that are
important to its users."

Adobe Photoshop Webmasters' Choice for Creating Web Graphics

Adobe Photoshop provides users with the professional design tools needed to
create compelling images for print or online publishing. The 3.0.5 update
now comes with the new GIF89a export plug-in for greater control over the
creation of GIF files, the popular file format used in designing pages for
the Internet.

The GIF89a export plug-in recognizes transparency in Adobe Photoshop files,
allowing users to easily key transparent areas to the background color of
a web page for better image integration. Transparency can be defined by
selecting colors with the eyedropper tool, or by loading an Adobe
Photoshop alpha channel directly.

The GIF89a export plug-in also supports video interlacing which allows for
faster re-draw of images viewed on-line. Additionally, caption text
contained in an Adobe Photoshop file is preserved when exporting to the
GIF format. If the file is downloaded from a Web page, the captions can be
viewed in Adobe Photoshop or other applications that support the GIF
caption standard such as Adobe Fetch. "Adobe Photoshop is an indispensable
tool for creating images for Internet publishing, especially for dealing
with transparencies," says Peter House, Webmaster for the Smithsonian
Institution's popular World Wide Web site (http://www.si.edu.). "The
GIF89a export plug-in makes it easy to key transpar-ent areas to the
background color of a World Wide Web page. It also allows for faster
re-draw of images viewed on-line. Plus, the new 3.0.5 update adds valuable
features for Windows 95 users mak-ing it a great solution for Windows Web
publishers."

Special Offers

The Adobe Photoshop 3.0.5 update for Windows is also being offered with two
special effects packages, Kai's Power Tools 3 and Adobe Gallery Effects.
Each offer comes on CD-ROM for the special price of $99.95. The
three-volume set of Adobe Gallery Effects for Windows includes a
comprehensive collection of traditional media filters for customizing,
adding artistic effects and enhancing photographs and other bitmapped
graphics. The new Windows 95-compatible version works with any application
that supports plug-in filters compatible with Adobe Photoshop on Windows
3.1, Windows 95 or Windows NT. The filters can be used with virtually all
image-editing and painting programs, as well as video-editing and effects
programs such as Adobe Premiere for Windows.

The 3.0.5 update is also available with the new Kai's Power Tools 3 for
Windows set of 32-bit plug-in extensions and filters. New tools include
KPT Spheroid Designer for creating raytraced 3D spheres, KPT Interform for
