Adaptec Named Founding Member of SCSI Trade Association

MILPITAS, CALIF, - February 6, 1996 - Adaptec today announced its
participation as a founding member in the SCSI Trade Association (STA), an
industry consortium formed to advocate the understanding and applications
of parallel SCSI technology. Marc Lowe, marketing director of entry
servers and workstations at Adaptec, has been named vice chairman of the
STA.

"Adaptec has been a significant leader in the expansion of the SCSI market
and we look forward to enthusiastically supporting the STA's efforts to
further establish SCSI as the standard I/O interface for today's desktop
PCs, servers and workstations, " said Drew Hoffman, vice president and
general manager, entry servers and workstations for Adaptec's Enterprise
Computing Group.

UltraSCSI, announced in 1995, is the newest performance specification for
parallel SCSI defining speed, bus width and cable length.

closely with Adaptec and other consortium members to promote the
understanding and standardization of configuring SCSI devices," said Marc
