Zenith Data Systems Introduces Z-STATION GT Pentium Pro processor-based
PCs

Optimized 32-bit personal workstations feature high-performance computing
and graphics with Windows NT Workstation pre-installed

BUFFALO GROVE, III.-January 16, 1996 --Zenith Data Systems (ZDS) announced
today a new series of high-performance Z-STATION GT PCs based on the
latest technology from Intel -- the Pentium Pro processor. Optimized for
32-bit operating systems and applications, the Z-STATION GT Pentium Pro
processor-based systems include Microsoft Windows NT Workstation
pre-installed. These workstation-class models feature a new six slot/six
bay mini-tower chassis that supports full length add-in cards in all of
the expansion slots for maximum flexibility.

"The Z-STATION GT Pentium Pro processor-based series is ZDS' answer to the
industry's emerging hybrid desktop market for personal workstations," said
Jeff Loebbaka, senior director of desktop product marketing at ZDS. "These
new systems offer the performance and functionality traditionally provided
by workstations, as well as the benefits of personal computers, to meet
our customers' business and mainstream computing needs."

The Z-STATION GT's coupling of the Pentium Pro processor with Windows NT
provides high performance, processor scalability and powerful graphics
that until recently could only be found on high-end workstations. At the
same time, this high-end addition to the Z-STATION GT family offers
greater price/performance value, a wider range of applications, enhanced
ease of use, lower cost of ownership, and increased flexibility typically
associated with personal computers.

Processor and platform combine for pure power

The superscalar, superpipelined architecture of Intel's latest-generation
chip featured in these new personal workstations enables the processor to
analyze much larger sections of data, process more information
simultaneously, and do it all more quickly. An innovation called Dynamic
Execution also intelligently organizes and prioritizes data so it can be
processed even more efficiently. The Pentium Pro processor is further
optimized for speed with integrated 256K cache that increases the system
performance.

"The performance breakthroughs of the Pentium Pro processor are absolutely
astounding," commented Loebbaka. "But to really exploit its potential
power - which can yield 40 to 60 percent faster performance than previous
Pentium systems -- the new Pentium Pro processor needs a true 32-bit
environment. That is why ZDS chose Windows NT Workstation for our new
workstation-class Z-STATION GT PCs."

The Z-STATION GT Pentium Pro series ships with Windows NT Workstation
pre-installed to optimize the performance of the processor and give users
the most power and flexibility possible. Windows NT Workstation is a fully
32-bit operating system -- based on 32-bit code and 32-bit device drivers
-- built to handle demanding workstation-type uses requiring advanced
power anti performance, powerful graphics, LAN connectivity,
expandability, and a stable and robust environment. In addition, the
platform provides the true multi-tasking, multi-threaded functionality
often required of advanced power users. It can run multiple programs at
the same time, as well as have a single program perform multiple tasks
simultaneously.

Up-to-speed graphics performance

To ensure graphics performance that keeps pace with the optimized
processing speed of the Pentium Pro system, ZDS equips the new-generation
Z-STATION GT workstations with an industry-leading graphics accelerator.
The Stealth64 Graphics 2201 accelerator from Diamond Multimedia Systems
provides the graphics performance needed for graphics-intensive
applications and delivers vivid color, Dicker-free resolution, and
supports multiple operating systems. It also complements the exceptional
graphics capabilities provided by Windows NT Workstation.

New chassis built for flexibility and investment protection

The new mini-tower chassis of the workstation-class Z-STATION GT is
designed to offer more expansion flexibility and improved ease of use and
serviceability. The system's interior layout allows each expansion slot to
hold full-length add-in cards for maximum flexibility. The series also
features an optimized power supply that allows the systems to run quieter
and increases efficiency by reducing cooling costs.

"From processor to power supply, our new line of personal workstations is
optimized for performance on every level," commented Loebbaka. "The entire
Z-STATION GT Pentium Pro series is designed for ultimate flexibility and
investment protection -- two characteristics that are key at this level of
computing."

The new systems offer three PCI full-length slots, two ISA full-length
slots and one PCI/ISA combination; three 5.25-inch and one 3.5-inch
external drive bays, and two 3.5-inch internal drive bays.
State-of-the-industry options such as 28.8 modems, Ethernet and Token Ring
cards for connectivity, tape backups and HDDs are available for the
Z-STATION GT Pentium Pro series to enable users to grow and adapt the
personal workstation to their changing needs.

ISA Configuration Utility makes for easy installation of add-in cards

To make installing add-in cards easier, ZDS has developed its own unique,
custom ISA Configuration Utility (ICU). An Intel Plug and Play driver
along with ZDS' ICU allows customers to install add-in cards without
experiencing conflicts between cards trying to utilize the same resources.

"Our ICU will greatly simplify the process of adding cards," said Loebbaka.
"When a customer installs an add-in card in our new Z-STATION GT, the Plug
and Play driver and ICU will automatically allocate the appropriate
resource to the card, thus preventing conflicts between cards trying to
utilize the same resources. We think this feature makes our new system
stand out from the crowd.

Configurations, pricing and availability

The new Z-STATION GT Pentium Pro processor-based systems from Zenith Data
Systems are offered in both a standard model and as a custom-configured
solution, so those with unique needs can have a custom configuration built
for their specific performance requirements and budgets.

The standard model includes an Intel Pentium Pro 150 MHz processor, 32MB
integrated RAM (with two open SIMM slots for memory expansion to 128MB), a
1.6GB EIDE Mode 4 HDD, 256K internal cache, the Diamond Stealth64 graphics
accelerator card, a 3.5-inch 1.44MB floppy drive, a 4X CD-ROM drive, and
the Windows NT Workstation operating system and Netscape Internet browser
software pre-installed. This configuration has a ZDS list price of $5,243.

Customers can also build their own custom configuration with a choice of
memory upgrades, HDDs, Ethernet and Token Ring cards, tape backups and
modems.

The new ZDS Z-STATION GT Pentium Pro PCs will be available in February
through authorized resellers.
