TriTeal and Spyglass Announce Multi-million Dollar Server License
Agreement

Defines Web Infrastructure for the Enterprise Market

January 16, 1996 -- Carlsbad, CA -- TriTeal Corporation and Spyglass Inc.
(NASDAQ: SPYG) today announced a licensing agreement valued in excess of
$2 million in which TriTeal will adopt Spyglass' server technology as the
basis for TEDserver, TriTeal's enterprise server product. TriTeal will be
the first company to provide a supported, commercial version of the
Spyglass server technology, part of the Spyglass Software Development Kit,
announced in a related release today.

The first implementation of this product, called TEDserver Early Release,
is available immediately. Price per server is US $199, which includes one
year of technical support.

TriTeal has already integrated Spyglass' client technology into the TriTeal
Enterprise Desktop (TED), TriTeal's flagship product and the only X/Open
branded, multi-platform implementation of the Common Desktop Environment
(CDE) specification.

Marc Miller, Spyglass executive VP of marketing, explained that the
partnership with TriTeal is highly synergistic. "TriTeal is a leader in
the open systems enterprise computing market. They have already
demonstrated, with our client technology, their ability to integrate open
software and provide products on multiple platforms to the enterprise
customer."

"Our enterprise customers work in a multi-platform, mission-critical
environment," said Rand Schulman, TriTeal executive VP of marketing.
"They're asking for Intranet technology that's open, homogenous across the
enterprise, and integrated with their desktop technology. They also need
products that embrace legacy applications as well as true client/server
technology. That's exactly what our intranet plan delivers."

TriTeal is committed to enterprise open systems, and through its technical
membership in X/Open, intends to submit the server APIs to X/Open for
consideration as an X/Open standard and as the basis for a future X/Open
brand.

"From day one TriTeal has been a strong supporter of X/Open and Open
Systems," said Mike Lambert, Chief Technical Officer at X/Open Company
Ltd. "I welcome this further declaration of openness and look forward to
their submission of high value Web server interfaces, one of X/Open's key
areas of focus for 1996. The X/Open brand is the only true user guarantee
of conformance to Open Systems."

TriTeal's Intranet Plans

TriTeal today also announced a suite of products that deliver a fully
integrated, comprehensive client/server Web solution for the commercial
and government enterprise market. These include an integrated browser,
personal Web server, enterprise server, Web-aware applications, and
data-level security.

TriTeal's browser, TEDVISION, is fully integrated with TED, providing
drag-and-drop integration with other applications and ease- of-use not
found in other stand-alone browsers. For example, a URL can be dragged to
the mail application as an attachment, and the message recipient can drop
the attachment to TEDVISION for quick navigation to that URL. "We give our
customers the ability to stay in one navigation paradigm for both local
and remote file systems, " said Jon Werner, TriTeal's TED product manager.
TEDVISION ships with TED 4.0, with a current install base throughout the
Global 1000 enterprise market.

TriTeal will use Spyglass' server technology as the basis for its personal
and enterprise Web server products. The personal Web server allows any
user/workstation to act as an intranet Web server. Schulman explained:
"For instance, a marketing person can easily publish (serve) marketing
materials for the entire company on their own computer, and update them at
any time." With Intranets on the rise, the client/server attributes of a
personal server provide a low cost-per-user solution to distributing and
managing information. The personal Web server and associated management
tools will be integrated and bundled with TED 4.1, scheduled for release
in mid 1996.

TriTeal's enterprise Web server, TEDserver, will include a variety of
enhancements to the Spyglass server code, including system administration
features such as configuration management, and personal publishing
features. TEDserver and TriTeal's personal server will also include
data-level security capabilities in future releases.

Maximizing the client/server architecture of TEDvision and TEDserver,
TriTeal plans include Web-aware applications. These desktop applications
(such as an integrated calendar, personal information manager and customer
database), are already bundled with TED, and are being re- designed to use
the Web toolkit. Instead of bloating the browse with additional
functionality, TriTeal is making TED's desktop services Web "smart."
Applications will know where their data resides, whether on a local
workstation or elsewhere on the network. By separating the data from a
particular workstation, data can be easily maintained and automatically
distributed on demand via the Web architecture.

Using the Intranet and Internet paradigm, Web-aware applications provide a
host of benefits: greater flexibility for distributing data, cohesive
group computing, and minimized data redundancy. Initially, this technology
will apply to applications that contain data which is used by both the
individual and the organization, such as calendars, address books, and
corporate information (e.g. HR policy, marketing materials, medical
forms).
