DASHBOARD SHIFTS INTO HIGHER GEAR WITH A COLLECTION OF AWARDS & HONORS

WINDOWS MAGAZINE AWARDS DASHBOARD 95 A SPOT IN THE WIN 100

(Scotts Valley, CA -- January 15, 1996) -- At the beginning of 1995,
Starfish Software had big plans for Dashboard. But not even Silicon Valley
visionary Philippe Kahn realized just how successful the popular graphical
utility would become over the course of the year.

"Dashboard has always been popular with end users who wanted a better way
to organize their desktops," said Starfish Software chairman and
co-founder Philippe Kahn. "Looking back over this year, we saw tremendous
critical and popular success with new releases of Dashboard on both the
Windows 3.x and Windows 95/NT platforms."

Dashboard 95 was recently awarded a spot in the annual Windows Top 100
(Windows Magazine, February, 1996). Dashboard 95 also earned the
prestigious "Recommended Product" designation from Windows Magazine in its
December 1995 issue and was listed as one of the Top 20 products of 1995
by Computer Shopper Magazine.

As a PC Computing reviewer wrote in the August 1995 issue, Dashboard offers
an "unbeatable approach to usability." Infoworld wrote in its September
11, 1995 First Look that "Dashboard steers an easy drive through Windows
95."

"Our corporate mission is to deliver finely-crafted software products that
help customers simplify their lives in a wired world," commented Philippe.
"Dashboard delivers on that commitment, and I'm very proud of the team
that has shepherded its development."

Ian Robinson, Director, Dashboard Product Management, added that "1995 was
the year when Dashboard reaffirmed its position as a true software
original. It maintained its tradition of innovation while continuing to
set the highest standards for software quality and performance. This
product line embodies the Starfish Software values -- Philippe's
continuing belief in quality, speed and technology."

THE GROWING DASHBOARD PRODUCT FAMILY

During 1995, Dashboard has grown from a single product into a robust
product family. Dashboard is unique among Windows utilities because it
provides a common interface across all Windows platforms -- Windows 3.1,
Windows NT and Windows 95. This cross-platform consistency is one of the
reasons for the product's popularity and sales success, especially with
corporations, Philippe says.

Over the past 10 months, Starfish Software has expanded the Dashboard
product family to include:

DASHBOARD 3.0 -- the essential utility for Windows 3.X. Dashboard 3.0
shifts Windows into high gear, and provides a common user interface across
all Windows platforms: Windows NT, Windows 95, and Windows 3.X.

DASHBOARD 95 -- a 32-bit version of the award-winning Windows utility that
is the key to driving Windows 95 and Windows NT. Dashboard 95 gives
Windows 95 and Windows NT users even better organization of their work
area, instant access to frequently used applications, greater control of
their work environment, and makes personal computing even easier, faster,
and more fun.

DASHBOARD FOR THE WEB -- the special edition of Dashboard that lets 32-bit
Web browsers organize their favorite places and bookmarks, monitor their
online connections and track overall online sessions. Dashboard for the
Web works with popular Internet browsers such as Netscape Navigator,
Microsoft Internet Explorer and Spry Enhanced Mosaic. Currently in beta
test, early pre-release versions of Dashboard for the Web were made
available on the Starfish Software World Wide Web site
(www.starfishsoftware.com) resulting in thousands of customer downloads
and valuable feedback. Due to this successful program, Starfish will be
posting the next beta on its site in mid-February.

DASHBOARD SOFTWARE DEVELOPER'S KIT (SDK) -- an application programming
interface (API) with sample C/C++ and Delphi 32 source code. The Dashboard
SDK allows developers to create Dashboard Loadable Modules (DLMs) that can
be integrated into Dashboard 95. The SDK will be available on the Starfish
Software web site in the first quarter of 1996.

Dashboard is also a key component of Sidekick Deluxe and Sidekick 95
Deluxe, CD-ROMs that include complete versions of Sidekick and Dashboard
as well as useful content files and multimedia tutorials on getting better
organized.

product, the best-selling Sidekick for Windows, less than one year ago,
and earned a dominant market share in the U.S. and Japanese markets for
