Spyglass Licenses Web Client Technology to Czech Software Firm; Extends
Spyglass Distribution Into Eastern Europe

Software602 to Integrate Spyglass Mosaic in Email Application

Naperville, III -- Thursday, January 4, 1996 -- Spyglass Inc. (NASDAQ:
SPYG) announced today that the largest software firm in Czechslovakia,
Software602, has licensed Spyglass Mosaic Web client technology for
incorporation into the company's Mail602 email system.

The agreement adds to Spyglass' growing number of International licensing
partners and marks the first time Spyglass has signed an agreement with a
software producer that serves Central and Eastern Europe. Terms of the
agreement were not disclosed, but the Prague - based Software602 expects
to begin shipping Spyglass Mosaic in its products by March 1996.

Software602 is the biggest producer of custom software in Central Europe
and the fourth largest software producer in the world (following
Microsoft, Lotus and WordPerfect) of enhanced MS Windows-based word
processing software, email systems with DES standard encoding and powerful
client-server database systems for Windows with SQL Server.

According to Software602 CEO Richard Kaucky, key factors in licensing
Spyglass Mosaic were its open architecture and internationalization
features. "Spyglass' open approach to business and product design is very
important," he said. "We cannot afford to redistribute a proprietary
system such as those being offered by Spyglass' competition. We need
technology that is easily embedded in our products, updatable and that can
be translated with reasonable effort. Spyglass offers all these features,
plus they offer a working arrangement that is flexible enough to address
any of our needs."

"We appreciate the professional approach of the Spyglass' team," said Roman
Kasan, head of Software602's marketing and sales. "Through our
partnership, we're bringing the Internet to the majority of our 200,000
legal users in Europe."

"Software 602 is just another example of our quality, open technology
winning out over the competition," said Marc Miller, executive vice
president of marketing. "In the Internet business, `open' technology is
key. That's the focal point of our product offerings and customers are
turning away from proprietary systems to flexible open technology from
Spyglass."
