Pocket Doc, the Leading Computerized Medical Record for the Newton
MessagePad, Now Supports the New Newton 2.0 Operating System.

January 10, 1996, MacWorld, San Francisco. - This new mobile electronic
medical record system streamlines the administrative practices of patient
treatment. Pocket Doc allows healthcare providers and ancillary staff to
provide the highest standards of treatment, while reducing unnecessary
paperwork, and as a result, offers the practitioner more time to see
patients. The Apple Newton MessagePad is used to collect and evaluate
information at the point of care. The Pocket Doc system is designed for
inpatient, outpatient and multi-site patient management practices. Data
may be transmitted to both Windows and Macintosh platforms.

Pocket Doc is the perfect clinical tool for those providers without the
time to become computer literate (i.e., no keyboard). Dictation costs are
virtually eliminated using PHYSIX' proprietary document processing
technology. Now with the "tap of a pen" a provider can complete an entire
patient record, send prescriptions to the pharmacy, collect billing
information, and access a great amount of medical data. A built-in drug
reference reduces medication dosing errors, significant drug interactions,
or contraindications. The billing process is also simplified with on-line
selection of ICD-9/CPT codes.

By reducing unnecessary administrative tasks, providers can spend more time
managing their patients, not their paperwork. Specialty-based clinical
templates assure providers all pertinent questions are answered and
immediately recorded. With the new wireless client-server system, existing
records are immediately accessed, reviewed and updated and patient
outcomes and resource utilization information are also collected. "The
combination of Newton 2.0 and Pocket Doc provides a compelling
point-of-care solution for healthcare providers and is an excellent
example of the kinds of innovative products being developed for the Newton
platform.," said Mike Lundgren, Manager, Vertical Market Sales for Apple's
Newton Systems Group. "We are pleased to have also awarded PHYSIX the
Premier Systems Integrator Award in recognition of its achievements."

Pocket Doc is also now available as part of the "MedPak" bundle offered by
Education Research Laboratories, Inc. (ERLI) and Physix, as a medical
reference and patient management tool set for clinicians. Complementing
ERLI's leadership in the Newton digital book market, Pocket Doc joins the
"MedPak" as the only complete computerized healthcare record solution
available for the Newton.

Taking advantage of the Newton 2.0 OS features, Pocket Doc v1.2 runs
faster, and allows for enhanced desktop connectivity, which translates
into increased productivity at the most important patient/physician
interface -- the point-of-care.
