Blueridge Announces OPTIX Database Publishing System

Flint Hill, VA --- January 8, 1996 --- Blueridge Technologies, "The
Internet Document Management Company," announced OPTIX DB Publisher. OPTIX
DB Publisher is the first cross-platform solution for publishing documents
from large-scale document databases to laptops and CD ROMs, allowing you
to create miniature, portable databases.

Today's document management systems allow you to create huge databases of
documents. But if you want to publish and distribute portions of your
database, you're hard pressed to find a system that will let you do it.
The few products that do allow you to publish your documents, force you to
publish them for a single platform (either Macintosh or Windows), but not
for both.

OPTIX DB Publisher changes all that. With OPTIX, you can publish all or
part of your database to CD ROMs, and then make those CD ROMs available to
anyone who needs access to them, wherever they need it. You can even
publish across platforms, so that your CD ROMs work on both Macintosh and
Windows-based computers.

OPTIX DB Publisher is easy to use. To select data to publish, you simply
query your database. When you find the documents you're looking for, you
select the "Publish" option. OPTIX then automatically gathers all the
documents and the index records associated with those documents, and
publishes them to a CD ROM (or to any other storage medium you designate).
The result is a miniature, portable OPTIX database, complete with your
documents, the indexes associated with those documents, and the query
screen you need to search for precisely the documents you want to locate
within your portable database.

OPTIX supports any kind of document, including scanned images, word
processing files, spreadsheets, and COLD documents. And OPTIX allows you
to use your portable OPTIX databases wherever you need them. For example,
you can publish an executive's correspondence to a laptop so he or she can
read those documents while on a business trip. Or you can publish legal
records to a CD ROM and carry them into a courtroom.
