MICROSOFT ACCESS DEVELOPERS TOOLKIT AVAILABLE

REDMOND, WASH. - JAN. 16, 1996 - The Microsoft Access Developers Toolkit
(ADT) for the Windows 95 operating system is now available. The ADT is an
add-on product for developers who build solutions with Microsoft Access.
The ADT includes twelve 32-bit OLE Controls, a two-volume reference for
Visual Basic for Applications, and an improved Setup Wizard.

In addition, the ADT includes the Microsoft Replication Manager for
scheduling database synchronization and a royalty-free run-time
distribution license. The Microsoft Replication Manager is a set of tools
used to manage replicated databases and add enhanced replication
capabilities to solutions built with Microsoft Access or the Microsoft Jet
database engine. Enhanced capabilities include support for rarely
connected users to exchange updates via a "dropbox," as well as a topology
map and log for all replication activity. The run-time license enables
developers to distribute solutions built with Microsoft Access without
obtaining a copy of Microsoft Access for each target desktop.

Microsoft Access for Windows 95, designed to take advantage of Windows 95
and the Windows NT™ operating system, delivers significant
innovations to help make databases easier to use, more powerful and more
flexible for all levels of users, from novices to database developers.
Microsoft Access for Windows 95 is also available as part of Microsoft
Office 95 Professional. Microsoft has improved the integration between
Microsoft Access and the other Microsoft Office applications, so users
enjoy a consistent user interface and shared tools, enabling them to
harness the power of a relational database. Office is now one of the most
widely used development platforms in the world, second only to the
WindowsR operating system.

With the availability of the ADT, Microsoft is modifying its technical
support policy to properly align telephone support for the ADT with
support for Microsoft's other developer products. In the past, the ADT was
supported in the same manner as desktop applications. With the new policy,
ADT developers will receive 30 days of no-charge Standard Support,
beginning with the first call for technical support. Additionally,
developers may choose from a number of support options, including
unlimited no-charge information services; member-to-member support on
public online services such as MSN, The Microsoft Network; and Priority
Support, available on a per-incident, 10-pack or annual-contract basis
from Microsoft. This policy change affects all existing ADT/ADK versions.

The Microsoft Access Developers Toolkit is available for approximately $499
and comes with a $100 rebate coupon for owners of ADT version 2.0.

The Microsoft Network is operated by Microsoft Corp. on behalf of Microsoft
Network LLC.
