MICOM ADDS NEW NETWORK FEEDER PRODUCTS FOR DATA / VOICE WAN INTEGRATION

New Marathon 3K and 2K join the NetRunner 75E network feeder product line

Simi Valley, CA -- MICOM Communications Corp. (NASDAQ:MICM) introduces its
new Marathon 2K and 3K Models at ComNet 96. The new units are designed to
support multiple wide area network (WAN) protocols for access to leased
lines, ISDN network services or public frame relay networks. The ability
of the new products to multiplex data, voice, fax and LAN traffic over a
single connection provides for dramatic reductions in communication
costs.

The new data-centric Marathon 2K integration multiplexer is desiged to
support one sync data channel and up to 28 async data channels. The unit
is ideal as a FRAD (frame relay access device). It supports sync and async
data rates up to 38.4 Kbps. The unit features two expansion slots to
permit adding voice/fax and ethernet router modules.

The new Marathon 3K is a high-performance, voice-ready feeder product
featuring built-in voice/fax support, eliminating the need for an optional
add-in voice card. The Marathon 3K also has three data ports. The unit's
3-slot design permits adding data cards to handle legacy data , an
ethernet card for IP/IPX routing, and additional voice/fax modules.

MICOM's NetRunner 75E integration router includes built-in IP/IPX routing
card and legacy data ports. The model 75E provides high-speed hardware
compression for increased LAN throughput and built-in backup capability
for networking resiliency. The model 75E has expansion slots to permit the
addition of up to four voice/fax channels per unit. A legacy data
expansion module is also available for the 75E.

Integrating voice/fax traffic onto existing LAN or data lines eliminates
interoffice long distance charges. The result is a significant reduction
in a company's remote communications costs.

Each voice/fax channel uses as little as 2 to 8 Kbps of bandwidth.
Additional features such as Silence Suppression, Dynamic Rate Adaptation,
Frame Relay and MicroBand ATM cell-based technologies make it easy and
cost effective to 'piggy-back' voice traffic onto existing data or LAN
lines, without compromising voice quality.

Marathon 2K, 3K and NetRunner 75E Models are designed to meet FCC, C.R.C.,
TUV, EU, UL, CISPR and CSA Standard agency compliance.

Suggested list prices; Marathon 2K - $1,195, Marathon 3K - $3,250. The
NetRunner 75E, is priced at $2,450. All three feeder models are available
now from certified MICOM distributors.
