ALLEGIANT SHIPS INTERNET SCRIPTING KIT

MARIONET ALLOWS USERS TO SCRIPT THE INTERNET

SAN DIEGO - January 9, 1996 - Allegiant Technologies, Inc. today announced
shipment of its powerful new Macintosh Internet scripting kit, Marionet
version 1.0. Marionet is the first software solution to allow Internet
developers to create completely custom applications that access and manage
information across the Internet.

Designed to work in conjunction with popular Authoring Tools and
AppleScript-aware productivity applications, Marionet is a complete,
script-level interface to the Internet that runs quietly in the background
as a "faceless" background task. A convenient Control Panel allows users
to set common preferences.

Responding to simple, English-like commands from authoring tools that
utilize an External Command (XCMD) interface, like Allegiant SuperCard,
Apple HyperCard and Macromedia Director, or from productivity applications
that support attachable AppleScripts, like Claris FileMaker Pro, Microsoft
Excel and UserLand Frontier, Marionet offers complete control over
standard Internet protocols and also includes a dramatic new custom
peer-to-peer protocol called "Chat." Marionet uses Apple's Thread Manager
to full advantage for asynchronous operation and can also function
synchronously.

"Amidst all the focus on Internet solutions, there have been some missing
pieces on the client side. In many cases people don't want to 'browse' for
data on the Internet; they want to engage Internet data in a much more
precise way. In that sense, Marionet is an 'unbrowser' for incorporating
that kind of precision Internet access," said Stuart Henigson, Allegiants
Vice President of Marketing. "And, we've heard from our beta testers that
the marriage of large amounts of media, perhaps delivered on CD-ROM, and
dynamic data coming in from precise locations on the Internet is extremely
compelling!" added Henigson.

Marionet product manager Brian Molyneaux, who was formerly HyperMedia
Products Manager for Heizer Software, commented that, "What we've done is
make it simple to build custom Internet solutions, including those that
access data from within business applications like FileMaker Pro and
Excel. More importantly, we're making it simple for programs to 'reach
out' and tap into the vast resources on the Internet with almost trivial
effort."

Marionet offers complete control over the following Internet protocols:

 World Wide Web (HTTP)
 Newsgroups (NNTP)
 Email (SMTP/POP3 including APOP)
 File Transfers (FTP)
 Domain Name Services (DNS)
 Searching (Gopher)

The applications for Marionet run the spectrum from sophisticated Web page
authoring and maintenance tools to personal or collaborative applications.
The integration of dynamic Internet access and retrieval into CD-ROM
titles is also expected to be an early application of the technology.
Software companies will be able to provide automatic software updates or
build automatic e-mail support as an integral part of their applications.
Educational institutions will be able to build Internet browsers that only
offer access to selected Internet sites (e.g. the university system).
Trainers will be able to deliver "distance-learning" applications that are
easily and automatically updated from a central web site. Individuals may
want to create multi- player games, collaborate with family members or
develop tools to automatically gather "cool site" URLs from the myriad of
sources and compile them into a single list.

PRICING & AVAILABILITY

Marionet version 1.0 is shipping now and the developer kit carries a
suggested retail price of $219, with a limited time introductory price of
$99. The kit allows developers to build and test applications from their
local computers.

A two-tier distribution license is available for commercial developers
wishing to sell or widely distribute their Marionet-enabled applications.
For applications that will be distributed to fewer than 500 users, a $500
annual fee per application title is required. An unlimited license per
application title is available for $1000 per year. Corporate and
educational site licenses are available.

A free Trial Version of Marionet is available from Allegiant's Web site
located at http://www.allegiant.com. The Trial Version contains all the
functionality of the retail version, for a 30-day evaluation.

Marionet's system requirements are frugal, requiring a TCP/IP connection to
the Internet, a Macintosh with a 68020 or greater processor, System 7.1 or
higher and 750K RAM for the Marionet application.

The Company also announced that a Windows version of Marionet is under
development.
