LOTUS ANNOUNCES WINNERS OF THE SECOND ANNUAL BUSINESS PARTNERS BEACON
AWARDS

AWARDS RECOGNIZE OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENTS BY LOTUS BUSINESS PARTNERS IN 15
CATEGORIES

ORLANDO, Fla., Jan. 24, 1996 -- Lotus Development Corp. last night
announced the winners of the Second Annual Lotus Business Partners Beacon
Awards. Designed to honor outstanding achievements among Lotus Business
Partners in several categories, the awards recognize leaders who have made
major contributions to the global industry of products, solutions and
services based on Lotus technologies. The winners, judged by a combination
of industry experts and Lotus executives, were recognized at a ceremony in
Orlando, Fla. The awards ceremony was held in conjunction with Lotusphere
'96, Lotus' third annual worldwide technical and business conference.

"The industry around Lotus products -- from entrepreneurial startups to
established companies -- provides solutions and services that accelerate
adoption of Lotus technologies," said Don Bulens, vice president,
Worldwide Partner Programs, Lotus Development Corp. "The combination of
the talents and expertise of these 12,000 companies with the capabilities
of the newly released Lotus Notes Release 4, provides limitless
opportunity for strategic business applications that embrace the World
Wide Web."

Lotus offers award winning client/server groupware, messaging and desktop
applications. Its flagship product, Lotus Notes, enables users to
communicate with colleagues, collaborate in teams, and coordinate
strategic business processes.

Lotus Business Partners were able to nominate their own companies or other
Business Partners for Beacon Awards in any of 14 categories. Business
Partners were required to submit nomination entries, which included
justification for their nominations, external references and additional
supporting materials. This year, Lotus invited industry experts from the
press and analyst community to judge individual categories, based on their
area of focus and expertise. The entries were judged prior to the
Lotusphere conference by those industry judges and representatives from
Lotus. A fifteenth "surprise" category, Notes R4 Best In Showcase, was
judged on-site at Lotusphere this year.
