ISO/IEC/ITU TO SPONSOR SEMINAR ON GLOBAL INFORMATION INFRASTRUCTURE AND
STANDARDIZATION

January 11, 1996 -- A Seminar that will focus on the standards aspects of
the Global Information Infrastructure (GII) will be jointly sponsored by
the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), the International
Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International
Telecommunications Union (ITU) on January 24-26, 1996 in Geneva.

This seminar is intended to capture the current status of standardization
relative to GII needs and to help chart the path for future global
activities in this area. The seminar is an open event and is intended for
all stakeholders in the GII. This includes decision makers, users, service
providers, network operators, manufacturers, industry groups, government
agencies, and standards development organizations including consortia and
fora.

The planning group, comprised of representatives from the three
organizations, is being facilitated by the ISO/IEC Joint Technical
Committee 1 ad hoc group on GII. A wide spectrum of industrial, regional
and national interests is also represented.

Attendance is limited by space. It is recommended that those who wish to
participate inform the ISO/IEC Central Secretariat as soon as possible via
