DESCENT FOR THE SONY PLAYSTATION

ALL ARRIVING MARCH 13TH - - D-DAY!!!

(INTERPLAY'S LARGEST MULTI-PLATFORM LAUNCH!!!)

January 5, 1996 -- Irvine, Calif.-- DESCENT II for the PC. DESCENT II for
the MACINTOSH. DESCENT for the SONY PLAYSTATION. Interplay Productions
announced today that its most ambitious multi-platform launch is to take
place on March 13, 1996.

"Descent was a huge success on both the PC and Macintosh platforms and
we've made a concentrated effort to continue the success of the brand
through this multi-platform launch," stated Trish Wright, vice president
of marketing for Interplay. "Descent II will give gamers new features that
will intensify the Descent experience, while Descent for the PlayStation
makes the game available to a whole new audience."

Descent II, developed by Parallax Software, expands the Descent world with
new features and gameplay. 30 new levels take the player through missions
on four separate planets and culminates inside the enemies' mothership.
New enemies include intelligent robots that will adjust to the player's
strategy, hunt the player down and suck up the player's energy supply.
Added fire power is supplied to the player with ultra- destructive
weapons, from the Helix Cannon to the Level 6 lasers. A robotic ally, the
"guide bot," has been added to aid the player through the twisting,
turning worlds that make up Descent II, while a "thief bot" has been
included to ensure even more devious survival strategies.

Descent, the only first-person game with full 360 movement, will finally be
available for console gamers with the scheduled March 13th PlayStation
release. Descent for the PlayStation has CD quality audio featuring music
by recording artists Type O Negative and "Ogre" of Skinny Puppy. Five new
Anarchy Levels for two-player head-to- head and cooperative gaming pump up
the intensity of Descent for the PlayStation. Previously unseen in any
other version of Descent, the PlayStation version features a unique
light-source shading technique called "radiosity."
