IBM and SportsTicker Announce Free Interactive Sports News on the Internet

Super Bowl Fans: Instant Team Statistics Just a Click Away

Falls Church, VA, Jan. 25, 1996 . . . In an effort to continue bringing
valuable services to Internet enthusiasts and to provide premier service
to the sports information industry, IBM and SportsTicker**, the instant
sports news and information service of ESPN, Inc.**, in partnership with
Dow Jones & Company, Inc.**, today announced an addition to the IBM
infoMarket NewsTicker. This sports news service provides free, up-to-the-
minute sports news, statistics, previews, recaps and features.

"This exciting new Internet-based information source, available from the
IBM infoMarket service, scrolls real-time sports headlines across desktop
and laptop computer screens and enables users to click on the headline to
get the full coverage of the SportsTicker story," said Bill Moses, vice
president, sports and broadcasting, IBM telecommunications and media.

SportsTicker is the second offering from the IBM infoMarket NewsTicker,
which recently announced the availability of content from Reuters
NewMedia, providing 24-hour newsfeeds of U.S. and international news,
business updates, and entertainment information.

Today's announcement is another example of IBM's network- centric computing
strategy -- IBM's blueprint for enabling people to receive, use and share
applications and services across worldwide voice and data networks,
including the Internet.

Any Web browser can download the software from the IBM infoMarket home
page, located at http://www.infomkt.ibm.com. Full-text articles may be
accessed by most Windows-based browsers, including Microsoft Internet
Explorer**, Netscape Navigator**, and NCSA Mosaic**. OS/2* and Macintosh**
versions of the software are currently under development.

SportsTicker newsfeeds, which are compiled by more than 700 event-site
reporters, provide detailed and comprehensive information on all major
professional and college sporting events. Newsfeeds for Super Bowl XXX for
example, will include team rosters, depth-charts, information about past
Super Bowls and team statistics, giving fans comprehensive Super Bowl
coverage at their fingertips.

"We're very excited about what this agreement means for our customers,"
said Jeff Crigler, vice president and managing director, IBM infoMarket.
"With the NewsTicker they'll be able to stay on top of both current events
and their favorite sports news. Instant access to this news is just a
click away on their desktop."

SportsTicker serves hundreds of radio and TV stations, broadcast and cable
networks, daily newspapers, wire services, audiotex, videotext, cabletext,
paging services, interactive media and electronic publishing applications
throughout the United States, Canada, South America and Japan. "IBM has
always been the world leader in technology and SportsTicker is thrilled to
have been chosen as the sports news and information service for the IBM
infoMarket service," said Rick Alessandri, Vice President and General
Manager, SportsTicker.

The IBM infoMarket service is creating the first secure environment for
intellectual property owners to reach a worldwide audience of millions
over the Internet. This new service will provide digital publishers with
the incentive to create and distribute their content electronically, with
the knowledge that they will receive compensation from every person who
makes use of their work. Additionally, IBM infoMarket will supply the
tools to provide these content owners with maximum control over how their
information is presented to their customers.

The IBM telecommunications and media industry solution unit offers a wide
range of solutions for entertainment, media, cable T.V., wireless and
telecommunications companies.
