HP To Supply Lotusphere '96 With Its First High-Speed, Multiple-Site
Network

ORLANDO, FLORIDA. JANUARY 22, 1996 -- Hewlett-Packard Company today
announced it will provide the high- speed network to showcase Lotusr
Corp.'s advanced multimedia applications during Lotusphere `96, which is
being held here at Walt Disney World from Jan. 21 to 25.

The 300-node, 100VG-AnyLAN network will connect multiple conference hotels
at Walt Disney World and will include 300 kiosks, 12 video servers, 28
Notes servers and Citrix WinFrame technology for remote kiosk access. The
Lotusphere network also includes five high-performance HP NetServers.

In cooperation with HP, Lante Corporation will provide the entire
exhibition show setup, working with HP to manage the hot staging and
installation of the network's hardware and software.

Lotusphere `96 marks the first time a Lotusphere network will connect
multiple buildings via FDDI rings and provide Internet access to every
kiosk.

"Lotus chose 100VG network technology for Lotusphere `96 because it
provides the necessary performance levels for our company's core
applications," said Paul Greenough, technical marketing manager, Lotus
Development Corp. "We've been very pleased with the performance of 100VG
for high-bandwidth multimedia applications such as VideoNotes, RealTime
Notes and other Lotus products, all of which will be demonstrated at the
show."

100VG is designed for emerging workgroup applications such as desktop video
conferencing, color network printing, collaborative computing and
multimedia; other large, data-intensive workgroup applications; and for
improving the performance of existing applications.

"This year, because of 100VG's non-collision architecture and demand
priority access scheme, we're able to prioritize network traffic by
setting high priority to our video servers," said Reed Gesteland,
operations consultant for Lante Corp. "This is critical for demonstrating
real-time video playback across the network among several locations. In
addition, because of the technical capabilities of 100VG, we're able to
link multiple sites with 100Mbps on the backbone."
