HP Introduces A Turnkey Solution For Application Developers

HP Developer's Station Combines the Industrial-strength Development Tools
of SoftBench 5.0 with HP's Industry-leading Workstations

PALO ALTO, CALIFORNIA. JANUARY 22, 1996 -- Hewlett-Packard Company today
introduced a hardware/software bundle, called the HP Developer's Station,
designed to give software developers a turnkey application-development
solution for virtually instant productivity.

The HP Developer's Station is simple to order, easy to install and comes
preconfigured. It delivers a total solution of performance and
functionality without a premium price -- enabling the developer to delve
directly into software development.

The HP Developer's Station is based on the HP 9000 Model 712/60 workstation
with 1GB of disk, 32MB RAM, a preloaded HP-UX(1) operating system, a
17-inch color monitor with keyboard and mouse, and QuickStart
documentation. A comprehensive set of preloaded development tools includes
C SoftBench 5.0, the ANSI C Compiler, a distributed debugging environment,
a performance analysis kit and graphics/multimedia support.

"By combining HP's PA-RISC(2)-based workstation with SoftBench 5.0 in an
innovative, turnkey solution, HP is empowering developers to increase
productivity," said Gretchen Tobin, marketing manager of HP's Software
Engineering Systems Division. "The HP Developer's Station enables the
developer to deliver complex applications quickly and cost effectively."

HP also is offering an upgrade program for users who want to move to C++ or
HP's C++ SoftBench Suite.

U.S. Prices and Availability

The HP Developer's Station is available now for $4,994.

The upgrade program includes upgrades to HP's C++ SoftBench for $1,995, and
the Suite for $2,695.
