ATTRACT NEW RESELLERS

ALLIANCE PARTNER PROGRAM TO LEVERAGE CHANNEL THAT GENERATES A THIRD OF
FULCRUM'S REVENUE

OTTAWA, CANADA, JANUARY 16, 1996 -- Fulcrum Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ:
FULCF; TSE: FUL), the leading provider of information-retrieval software
for the client/server market, today announced a new reseller program,
under the umbrella of the Fulcrum Alliance Partner Program, to encompass
relationships with value-added resellers (VARs) and other distributors.
Partners will have access to preferred pricing on Fulcrum products and
services, field-level sponsorship and support, and co-marketing
opportunities.

"With a third of our revenue coming from resellers, it is clear that this
channel has played a significant part in our success," said Mike Laginski,
Fulcrum's chief operating officer. "We have aggressive plans to grow and
strengthen our existing reseller base and a commitment to this channel
that is stronger than ever. We are already working with some of the
biggest names out there, like Eastman Kodak and Saros. In the help desk
market alone we are working with Clarify, Astea, Software Artistry and
Answer Computer. The Alliance Partner Program for resellers will provide
us with a way to leverage and build on these relationships."

In a separate press release issued today, Fulcrum and Day & Zimmermann
jointly announced a new partnership under the Alliance Partner Program
which will lead to the integration of Fulcrum software in Documentum-
based products designed for regulated industries.

Fulcrum's aggressive goal for the Alliance Partner Program is to bring the
vast majority of its current resellers under the program and double its
reseller base by the end of 1996. In addition to discounts on Fulcrum
products and education, resellers under the program can also participate
in an array of co-marketing and promotional activities.

PROGRAM BENEFITS

Fulcrum's Alliance Partner Program provides preferential access for
partners to Fulcrum products, technical support, and education; and
Fulcrum will work with partners on a partner-by-partner basis to define
program options, such as arrangements for co-marketing and lead referral,
that best suit their individual businesses. Benefits include:

 Preferred pricing on Fulcrum products, technical support and education;

 Sales sponsors, who provide field-level support to assist partners
 in developing their businesses through lead exchange, joint sales
 and marketing activities and introduction to Fulcrum accounts
 where appropriate; and,

 Marketing services to promote Alliance Partners to Fulcrum customers
 and prospects. Options include a listing on Fulcrum's homepage,
 assistance with direct mail campaigns, opportunities to exhibit
 in Fulcrum partner pavilions at tradeshows, participation in seminars,
 and involvement in pre-release product initiatives.

Candidates accepted into the Fulcrum Alliance Partner Program pay an annual
