ECI TELEMATICS PARTNERS WITH MICOM TO SEND VOICE/FAX OVER FRAME RELAY/X.25
NETWORKS

ECI Telematics Adds MICOM Voice/Fax Technology To Worldwide Networks

Simi Valley, CA --Frame Relay and X.25 market leader ECI Telematics (a
division of ECI Telecom Ltd.) selects MICOM Communications Corp.'s
(NASDAQ:MICM) voice/fax technology for its worldwide Frame Relay and X.25
customer base. In an OEM technology agreement, ECI Telematics is bundling
a MICOM-engineered voice/fax card with its ACP-70 FRAD to enable customers
to send voice/fax traffic simultaneously over Frame Relay and X.25 data
networks. With the new MICOM voice/fax technology, ECI Telematics
customers can now benefit from instantaneous connectivity for toll-free
phoning and faxing between company-wide locations.

MICOM designed its voice/fax module to fit ECI Telematics' new ACP-70 FRAD.
The built-in module ensures voice/fax connectivity over Frame Relay and
X.25 data networks and allows customers to place phone calls and send
faxes over Frame Relay or X.25 networks without incurring additional
costs. In traditional data networks, a fax transmission may time out and
the document has to be re-sent. However, MICOM's unique technology spoofs
the facsimile machine into waiting through delays that are common in data
networks until the fax transmission is complete.

Additional features: voice/fax traffic can be compressed to as little as
two-to-three kilobits of bandwidth; the voice/fax channel can be
configured either locally through standard asynchronous ports, remotely
from any ACP-70 FRAD in the network, or by ECI Telematics' network
management system.

"The Voice/fax option enhances the value of the ACP-70 to operators of both
mature and developing networks. A private network operator can achieve
important cost savings by transmitting fax over their existing Frame Relay
or X.25 network. The developing network operator can immediately provide
voice and fax transmission services at a reasonable cost as opposed to the
typical wait for new telephone service," said Roger Mahnke, Director
Product Marketing, ECI Telematics.

MICOM CEO Barry Phelps explained, "Fewer networks are being installed with
only data traffic in mind. Advanced voice/fax technology is providing
companies with high-quality, multifunctional, cost-effective networks that
were not available five years ago. Our partnership with ECI Telematics
delivers these benefits today."
