ELECTRONIC ARTS AND COLOSSAL PICTURES PROUDLY PRESENT: PSYCHIC DETECTIVE

SAN MATEO, Calif., December 20, 1995 -- Two industry leaders, interactive
giant Electronic Arts and animation titan Colossal Pictures, introduce the
release of Psychic Detective, an interactive comedy/thriller movie that
breaks new ground in the interactive industry.

Shot on location throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, the movie is a
Hollywood-style production with five hours of live action footage
featuring both Los Angeles and San Francisco-based AFTRA actors. The movie
was created by Jim Simmons of Electronic Arts, Emmy Award-winning director
John Sanborn, and screenwriter Michael Kaplan.

Psychic Detective features the exploits of Eric Fox, psychic wunderkind,
who for years coasted through life on his paranormal talents: cheating on
exams, seducing gullible women, and performing smart-alecky lounge shows
in second-rate hotels. The player plays from inside Eric's mind, using his
psychic powers to help the beautiful Laina Pozok unravel the mystery
behind her father's suicide. Laina encourages Eric to travel from one
character's mind to another to gather clues by experiencing events from
their perspective. The depth and breadth of the story line lets the player
try out numerous leads, each one with its own revelations and surprises.

This new form of interactive movie is achieved by seamlessly interweaving
the video and the complex storyline into an uninterrupted playthrough
experience. The player, as the central character, guides the story from
beginning to middle, and through to one of many endings. The choices the
player makes throughout the movie directly affect all elements of the
story, making the player a participant in the story and no longer just an
observer.

Electronic Arts Executive Producer Jim Simmons says, "Designing and
engineering games, especially new types of games like Psychic Detective,
requires lots of experimentation and invention. Today's leading-edge
animation houses, such as Colossal Pictures, our partner on Psychic, are
especially suited to this type of work. They know what it takes to invent
new techniques, work with software engineers, and painstakingly craft an
audiovisual experience frame by frame, element by element."

"Psychic Detective is defining the future of this industry with interactive
fiction that is responsive to the viewer," adds John Sanborn, Colossal
Pictures director. "We've mixed together 500 movies, incredible sound, and
extensive electronic processing, so that every time you 'play' the movie,
you discover new sequences, new materials -- and an entirely different
movie path. It becomes the movie you want it to be."

Psychic Detective is available on PC CD-ROM and the 3DO Interactive
Multiplayer. A PlayStation version will be available in spring of 1996.
