ELECTRONIC ARTS INVITES PLAYSTATION PLAYERS TO STAR IN SCI-FI BLOCKBUSTER

SAN MATED, Calif., December 6, 1995-Electronic Arts (NASDAQ:ERTS) has
announced the release of the award-winning original title Shockwave
Assault -- an interactive science-fiction movie -- for the PlayStation.
The PlayStation version will include five extra missions (from Operation
Jumpgate) that were previously available as an add on disk for the
original 3DO Interactive Multiplayer version (Shockwave).

Shockwave Assault blends Hollywood film production techniques with
state-of-the-art computer technology to create one of the most advanced
entries into the new entertainment genre of interactive movies.

In a nutshell, playing Shockwave Assault is like starring in a Hollywood
science-fiction movie. From the cockpit of a F-177 space aircraft, players
fly over texture-mapped landscapes created from custom aerial photography,
fighting alien craft rendered using real-time, three dimensional graphics.
They experience real video and radio broadcasts from other pilots as they
fly combat missions around the world.

"We have integrated new features into the PlayStation version of Shockwave
Assault taking into account customer feedback and technical advantages of
the new system," said Philippe Tarbouriech, project leader at Electronic
Arts. "The cockpit has been totally re-designed for better viewing by the
player, there are numerous checkpoints throughout each mission where the
game saves automatically and the user interface has been re-designed to
make it much simpler to operate".

To create this visual experience, the Shockwave Assault development team
enlisted a professional movie director, professional actors, a
best-selling novelist/script writer, industry-leading software engineers,
award winning audio composers, and top storyboard and computer graphic
artists. The title uses extensive video storytelling as well as CD quality
stereo music and Dolby Surround Sound to enhance the players immersion
into this futuristic game world.

"Combining real video, three-dimensional images, and realistic terrain
creates an unbelievable gaming experience. This is the first in a new line
of science-fiction games, and it's right on the cutting edge of 32-bit
technology" said Lucy Bradshaw, producer, Electronic Arts.

For the player, the terrifying scenario Electronic Arts delivers in this
interactive movie seems all too clear. Shockwave Assault takes the player
into a horrifying mission of the future, where the fate of the Earth hangs
in the balance. The year is 2019, and orbiting our planet is the UNS
Omaha. The world's first aircraft carrier in space. This experimental
space platform has begun operational testing of the new F-177 space
fighter prototypes.

But someone is out there watching, and waiting.

Without any warning, Earth is bombarded from space by an unknown alien
attack. As the Earth's defenses are systematically destroyed, the stage is
set for a novice pilot to fly death-defying solo missions in a bid to save
our planet.

As this war between the worlds unfolds, the hidden alien agenda becomes
clear. While constantly battling the aliens over the skies of Earth, the
player will experience a suspense-filled storyline that culminates in the
final showdown between Humanity and the Alien Horde.

The player can also expect to see improved video sequences which run at
twice the speed of the 3DO version, and music running throughout the
gameplay to add to the excitement.
