SAN JOSE, Calif., January 8, 1996 -- Diamond Multimedia (Nasdaq: DIMD), a
leading developer and marketer of visual computing and multimedia
connectivity solutions for personal computers, today announced a new,
multi-tiered developer relations program designed to give independent
software and hardware vendors a broad range of tools and support for
creating Diamond-compatible products. Currently more than 500 game and
software developers have signed up, including leading game developers such
as Interplay, Electronic Arts/Origin, Activision and Sega as well as
peripheral developers including Thrustmaster and Stereographics. Companies

program can call 408-325-7480, or send an E-mail to

"As Diamond continues to expand its broad line of multimedia products, we
recognize the importance of Diamond-compatible software and hardware to
our customers," said Ken Comstock, director of Diamond's games platform
marketing group. "With our new developer relations program, our goal is to
provide the development community with fast, reliable support for creating
the highest-quality games, entertainment and business products available.
This, in turn, gives our customers increased confidence in the Diamond
brand name."

Through its new developer relations programs, Diamond plans to offer
complete services for hardware as well as software manufactures, giving
top developers access to selected Diamond-proprietary information and
creating an intensive "electronic forum" designed to decrease the cost and
time associated with gaining advanced support from Diamond.

"Diamond intends to set the industry benchmark in multimedia developer
support," said Gary D. Kinsey, developer relations manager for Diamond.
"We have worked closely with the development community to design a
comprehensive, developer-friendly program."

Diamond's New Three-Tier Developer Relations Program

Diamond's developer relations program provides a multitude of new services
as well as co-marketing opportunities that will assist in gaining maximum
exposure for "Diamond-compatible" products. The new program is structured
with three levels of participation: "Solitaire," "Marquis" and "Clarity."
This approach enables everyone from hobbyists to high-end vertical market
developers to take advantage of Diamond's new services.

Solitaire

The Diamond Solitaire program, designed for individual hobbyists, computer
consultants, small corporate MIS managers and independent value added
resellers (VARs), is available free of charge and gives members access to
Diamond's developer relations quarterly CD-ROM newsletter and electronic
developer assistance. In addition, Solitaire members receive software
developer kits, evaluation units and access to Diamond conferences,
developer kitchens and focus groups for additional fees.

Marquis

The Diamond Marquis program is geared to systems integrators, kiosk
developers and smaller software and hardware development companies for an
annual fee of $950. It provides all Solitaire services, plus offers up to
four individual members, known as "seats," per company with free software
developer kits including updates, special hardware purchase discounts,
additional discounts on evaluation units, free admission to regional
conferences, and access to Diamond's vast electronic forum.

Clarity

The Diamond Clarity provides the optimum level of service to all hardware
and software developers for an annual fee of $1850. Clarity plan members
receive complimentary admission to all Diamond developer conferences,
priority invitations to developer kitchens and focus groups, free hardware
evaluation units, automatic enrollment in beta test programs and both on-
and off-site programming assistance. In addition, "Clarity" members
receive priority response to their programming and technical issues and
are assigned an "evangelist" from Diamond who has account responsibility
for all development and co-marketing issues.

Diamond Clarity members receive four free "seat" licenses and receive two
hardware suites consisting of the most popular configurations of Diamond
hardware, including Diamond's top-of-the-line telecommunications products.
Members will be assigned an FTP site within Diamond where they can
instantly obtain driver updates, software development kit updates and post
information for assistance in debugging of members' software products.
Additional "seat" licenses are available for an annual fee of $300.

Additionally, Clarity members can participate in all Diamond co-marketing
programs, including priority selection in the award of OEM bundling
contracts, access to Diamond's end-user database, co-op direct mail
campaigns, and inclusion on in-box demo CDs.
