DELL STRENGTHENS PRICE LEADERSHIP; REDUCES PRICES BY 23 PERCENT ON
CORPORATE PCS

AUSTIN, TEXAS, JAN. 22, 1995 -- Dell Computer Corp. (Nasdaq: DELL), reduced
prices today by up to 23 percent across its Dell OptiPlex line of desktop
PCs, strengthening its position as the industry leader in value, price and
quality.

Today's announcement follows a price reduction of up to 8 percent in
December on the same product line. Both price breaks are based on reduced
costs for components including microprocessors, hard disk drives and
memory. The OptiPlex PC line is designed for businesses and organizations
that require high-performance, affordable systems equipped for complex
network environments.

The lower prices, effective immediately, cover a range of desktop
configurations including high-performance network-ready systems with the
most powerful 166 MHz Intel Pentium processors. All systems offered with
the new price breaks include a high-resolution color monitor.

"Dell PCs have always set the standard for value, price and quality.
Today's announcement places Dell 10 to 27 percent below our competitors'
prices for comparable systems," said Tom Martin, vice president of Dell
major accounts marketing. "The OptiPlex PC line combines features such as
integrated networking and business multimedia with exceptional
reliability. These features, combined with today's lower prices, provide
our customers with an outstanding value that will help them reduce their
PC lifecycle costs and stay ahead of rapid technology transitions." Sample
configurations in today's price cut include:

* THE DELL OPTIPLEX G5100 -- The OptiPlex G5100 PC combines the 100 MHz
Intel Pentium processor with 16 MBs of memory, a 1 gigabyte hard drive, a
high-resolution color monitor, a 64-bit integrated video controller and
DMI manageability with a price of $1,936, a 16 percent price reduction.

* THE DELL OPTIPLEX X133 -- The OptiPlex X133 PC combines Intel's 133 MHz
Pentium processor, 32 MBs of memory, 256 KB cache, a 2GB hard drive and
color monitor with PCI local-bus technology for $3, 261, which is 23
percent lower than its original price. The system also includes advanced
power management for lower energy consumption, and plug and play
capability.

* THE DELL OPTIPLEX GX 5166 -- Standing in as Dell's mainstream corporate
desktop PC, the OptiPlex GX PC combines the 166 MHz Pentium processor, 32
MBs of memory, a 2 GB hard drive, 256 KB cache and color monitor with
integrated features such as networking from 3Com Corp., full- motion MPEG
video from S3 Corp. and audio from Creative Labs for $3,581, a 15 percent
decrease.

All OptiPlex PC models listed above come with a 14-inch (13.19inch
viewable) high-resolution color monitor and a three-year extended, limited
warranty that includes one year of next-business-day on-site parts and
labor service and two years of next-business-day parts delivery service.

"While our competitors tend to lower prices on older systems, Dell is able
to pass on immediate cost savings on leading-edge systems like the
OptiPlex GX5166, which comes with Intel's latest Pentium processor,
integrated networking from 3Com Corp. and integrated multimedia
capabilities," Martin said. "This price/value combination is a direct
result of the Dell business model, which enables our customers to have the
latest technology without sacrificing cost or performance."
