DELL SHIPS SYSTEMS WITH "RAMRIGHT" FEATURE, BEGINS SALES OF NEW PENTIUM PRO
PROCESSOR-BASED PCS

AUSTIN, TEXAS, JAN. 15, 1995 -- Dell Computer Corporation (Nasdaq: DELL)
today announced that it is now shipping Dell Dimension XPS Pro150 personal
computers with its "ramRIGHT" feature, a unique memory error correction
system. Dell also announced that it has begun taking orders for the Dell
Dimension XPS Pro200, a new PC based on the 200- megahertz (MHz) Intel
Pentium Pro processor.

ADVANCED MEMORY TECHNOLOGY, MAINSTREAM PRICE The ramRIGHT system is
designed to detect and correct single-bit memory errors without
interrupting normal system operations and - - for the first time --
without adding considerably to the price of the system. Single-bit memory
errors are infrequent occurrences in which a bit of memory loses its
contents. Although the chances of a memory failure of this type are
relatively small, the extra protection offered by ramRIGHT will be
particularly valuable for customers using complex, critical applications.

The ramRIGHT system uses specialized modules -- known as parity memory
SIMMs -- that contain an extra set of bits. These extra bits are used by
the Intel 82450KX chipset to store error-correcting information which
helps reconstruct the memory in the event of data loss.

The ramRIGHT feature is the first memory detection and correction system to
provide this level of functionality without exacting a considerable price
premium. The specialized ECC (error correcting code) SIMMs typically used
in systems of this nature are much more expensive than the parity memory
modules used in the Dell design.

The ramRIGHT feature is available on Pentium Pro processor-based Dell
Dimension XPS systems ordered with either Microsoft Windows NT Workstation
or with Windows 95 and at least 32MB of memory. XPS PRO200

Dell also announced today that it has begun taking orders for the Dell
Dimension XPS Pro200, a PC based on the 200MHz Pentium Pro processor. Dell
announced its intention to offer 200MHz Pentium Pro processor- based
systems in November. Dell expects to begin shipping the XPS Pro200 within
the next four weeks. The Pro200 is priced at $5,599 when configured with
32-megabytes of RAM; a 17LS monitor (15.75- inch viewable); the Imagine
128 video card; a 2-gigabyte hard drive; a 6X CD-ROM drive; a wavetable
sound card; speakers; a 28.8 kbps fax/modem; factory-installed Windows NT,
an advanced 32-bit operating system; MS-Office software; a three-year
limited warranty*; and one year of Windows NT support. Dell has designed a
unique support offering that comes standard with all Dell Dimension
Pentium Pro processor systems ordered with Windows NT Workstation. The
company has created a dedicated, toll-free software and operating systems
support line that operates Monday - Friday, 7 a.m. - 9 p.m. (central
time). Technicians will assist customers with their Windows NT support
needs, from initial set up issues to questions about everyday usage.
One-year of free access to this support is included with each XPS Pro150
and Pro200 system configured with Windows NT Workstation. Customers can
also choose to extend their support contracts after the initial year.
