Cheyenne Ships InocuLAN 4.0 for NetWare

New Release focuses on Enterprise-Wide Virus Protection and NDS Support

ROSLYN HEIGHTS, NY (January xx, 1995) - Cheyenne Software, Inc. (AMEX:CYE)
announced today that it is shipping InocuLAN 4.0 for NetWare. This latest
release focuses on enterprise-wide anti-virus protection through domain
management, Novell NDS support, and a newly improved "hands- free"
signature file update system. InocuLAN 4.0 for NetWare is the cornerstone
a new generation of security software from Cheyenne which also includes
new anti-virus products for DOS, Windows, Windows 95, Windows NT and
Novell NetWare.

InocuLAN for NetWare provides a powerful set of security tools while
providing a new artificial intelligence-based engine for detecting and
curing virtually all known and many unknown viruses. "Cheyenne is
committed to providing world-class anti-virus protection," said ReiJane
Huai, president and CEO of Cheyenne Software. "This commitment is evident
in the broad line of new anti-virus products we are releasing, and in our
monthly updating of those products to ensure up-to-the-minute anti-virus
protection."

Unlike other anti-virus vendors, Cheyenne has always focused on tools to
protect the entire network against viruses. The new release of InocuLAN
further emphasizes that focus with Novell NDS support, Windows- based
domain management, "hands-free" update management and distribution and an
auto-load function which automatically unloads InocuLAN from the server,
reloading the program when updated software has been distributed.

Cheyenne has also addressed the problem of getting end users to use
anti-virus software. "Nobody wants to run another TSR (Terminate and Stay
Resident) on their system," Daniel Schrader, InocuLAN's Product Manager
explained. "We eliminated that concern by replacing the TSR with a VxD
(virtual device driver) in both our Windows and our Windows 95 products.
VxDs don't require conventional memory, and are far more stable then
TSR-based technology." If VxDs are the carrot, InocuLAN's "enforcement"
function is the stick. Enforcement, another feature unique to InocuLAN,
allows administrators to remotely require use of the anti-virus software.
InocuLAN can periodically check whether workstations are using the VxD,
and then warn or log offenders off the network. Eliminating the TSRs, and
providing "Enforcement" enables companies implement and enforce anti-virus
guidelines - a claim that no other anti-virus product can make.

InocuLAN's other network management capabilities include the most extensive
alerting feature in the industry. Alerts can be sent by email, page, fax,
SNMP, broadcast or through a printed trouble ticket. InocuLAN also
provides activity logs can be centralized across an entire network; domain
based scanning and Cheyenne's unique "hands- free" distribution system.
"InocuLAN will actually automatically dial Cheyenne's BBS, download
software and signature file updates, and distribute the updates to every
server and workstation on the network," said Alex Chen, Cheyenne's
Director of Engineering for Network Security Products. "InocuLAN will even
unload itself from the server and re-load itself to take advantage of the
new software - a feature that no-one else offers."
